Logistics Engineer
Job Description
Job#: 3052204 Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Logistics Engineer for our client based out of Macungie, PA.This assignment is anticipated to be a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first-shift Monday-Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
Support the design and improvement of logistics flows from incoming materials through delivery to the point of use.
Analyze material movement, handling processes, and operational workflows to identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Assist with logistics planning for production changes, process updates, and new product introductions.
Perform time, frequency, and workflow studies to evaluate material requirements and optimize delivery methods.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for logistics processes.
Implement approved changes to internal and external material flow processes.
Support modifications and redesigns of logistics layouts, material presentation areas, and handling methods.
Work with manufacturing, materials, warehouse, and engineering teams to coordinate logistics improvements.
Collect and analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and support data-driven decision-making.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving material availability, and optimizing overall flow.
Monitor implemented changes and provide feedback to ensure improvements achieve the intended results.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in logistics engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, material handling, or a related area.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Internship, co-op, academic project, or entry-level experience within a manufacturing or logistics environment is beneficial.
Basic understanding of material flow, process improvement, and manufacturing or warehouse operations.
Ability to perform basic time studies, process observations, data collection, and workflow analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow established processes while learning to independently manage logistics engineering assignments.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Interest in continuous improvement and improving the efficiency of operational processes.
Nice to
Have:
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Lean Logistics, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with material flow analysis, line-side delivery, warehouse layouts, or material handling.
Familiarity with time studies, standardized work, or process mapping.
