Position This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished supply chain leader to join Digi International's Opengear Operations team in Sandy, Utah. This is a hybrid role located in Sandy, UT. What We Offer As our Supply Chain Manager, you will own end-to-end material planning, inventory strategy, freight and logistics optimization, and supplier performance for our light manufacturing facility — driving measurable results against real business priorities like inventory reduction, freight cost savings, and on-time delivery. You will independently determine objectives, lead cross-functional initiatives, and directly influence the long-range direction of our supply chain. If you are a proven supply chain leader who thrives on ownership and impact — join us. What You Will Do Inventory Strategy & Working Capital Own inventory reduction strategy — reduce gross inventory through disciplined safety stock reviews, lead time management, and PO push-out/pull-in execution based on changing demand. Drive inventory turns improvement (target: 3.2 4+) by reviewing order quantities and ensuring consumption horizons stay within 6 months. Manage component-level inventory reduction initiatives; direct contract manufacturers (CMs) to consume available Opengear-owned excess material before purchasing new components. Oversee consignment inventory strategy across the Sandy facility and CM locations, including excess material management. Freight, Logistics & Cost Optimization Lead freight cost reduction strategy, shifting PO planning toward ocean freight (DHL, FedEx, Mainfreight, Quality SVC, Expeditors) wherever operationally feasible. Develop and execute tariff avoidance strategy leveraging USMCA and alternative sourcing to minimize tariff expense. Drive strategic sourcing and PPV (purchase price variance) savings initiatives across key commodities (e.g., memory, semiconductor components) through supplier negotiations and buydown programs. Identify and execute project-level cost savings opportunities, including manufacturing footprint and box-build sourcing strategies with external partners. Customer Delivery & NPI Collaboration Own on-time delivery (OTD) performance through disciplined PO management using SourceDay or equivalent supplier collaboration platforms. Align contract manufacturer delivery commitments with customer requirements; proactively resolve delivery date conflicts. Partner with Engineering on New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness, ensuring component and supply chain survey results translate into on-time supply chain execution. Monitor and report supply chain performance metrics to leadership, highlighting risks and improvement opportunities. Material Planning & Supplier Management Lead material requirements planning (MRP) to ensure materials are available to support the master production schedule; proactively identify and resolve supply risks before they impact production. Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships domestically and internationally; negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery commitments. Support export compliance activities including trade agreements, customs documentation, and import/export coordination. Maintain data integrity within ERP systems (Epicor or equivalent) for planning, inventory, and purchasing. Data Analysis & Reporting Extract and manipulate data from the ERP system using Business Activity Queries (BAQs) to support inventory, purchasing, and supply chain reporting. Use Excel (including Power Query) to build, automate, and maintain recurring supply chain reports and dashboards. Translate raw ERP data into actionable insights for inventory turns, freight costs, PPV, and OTD performance tracking. Continuously improve reporting efficiency by automating manual data pulls and building repeatable Excel/Power Query workflows Who You Are and What You Bring 8-10+ years of progressive supply chain experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6-8 years with a Master's degree; or equivalent — with demonstrated mastery of supply chain disciplines across procurement, planning, logistics, and inventory. Demonstrated experience reducing inventory and driving working capital improvement in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience with freight cost optimization, ocean vs. air/ground freight strategy, and carrier management. Working knowledge of trade compliance, tariff strategy, and global sourcing (Importing, Exporting, Trade Agreements, Customs Regulations). Experience managing supplier and contract manufacturer (CM) relationships, including delivery performance and cost negotiations. Strong analytical skills; comfortable setting and tracking KPIs such as inventory turns, OTD, and PPV savings.
