Job Description

Job Description This material planner is responsible for sourcing, researching, and procuring materials, components, and fasteners required to support ship repair and maintenance operations. This role works closely with technicians, vendors, and internal stakeholders to identify required parts, obtain quotations, process purchase requests, and track material delivery status. The ideal candidate will possess strong research skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Review parts requests and verify inventory availability.
  • Research parts, materials, NSNs, and technical specifications using technical manuals, NAVSEA drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Utilize systems such as NAVSUP OneTouch and IHS Haystack Gold to identify sourcing and availability information.
  • Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes for parts, raw materials, and fasteners.
  • Source structural materials, pipe, plate, bar stock, and industrial fasteners based on technical requirements.
  • Process purchase requests and vendor quotations in Costpoint.
  • Follow up with suppliers daily on quote and material delivery status.
  • Support ship repair and maintenance operations through timely procurement of required materials.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and material specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize procurement and supply chain systems.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal procedures.
  • Eligible for a clearance
  • AWE experience
