The position will support partnership development, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, mine-site access, implementation support, evaluation activities, communication, and dissemination of findings. The evaluator will work closely with NIOSH personnel, mining industry partners, and other stakeholders to support practical, evidence-informed approaches that improve miner health and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize key mining industry stakeholders, including mine operators, contractors, trade associations, labor organizations, regulators, and other relevant partners.
• Leverage and expand professional relationships within the mining industry to establish and strengthen partnerships that support NIOSH miner health and safety initiatives.
• Facilitate engagement opportunities between NIOSH and mining stakeholders to promote collaboration and participation in research, implementation, and evaluation activities.
• Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, industry events, and conferences.
• Assess existing industry engagement approaches and identify gaps, barriers, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support development of strategic plans for industry engagement, including recommended measures for evaluating engagement effectiveness and impact.
• Assist with development of business cases for miner health and safety improvements, including consideration of productivity, risk reduction, and operational impacts.
• Provide subject matter input to help align NIOSH health and safety initiatives with mining industry priorities, operational realities, and economic drivers.
• Use industry relationships to facilitate access to mine sites for research, pilot studies, interventions, and evaluation activities.
• Coordinate with mine operators and other stakeholders on logistics, scheduling, site access, and on-site engagement activities.
• Advise project teams on site-specific considerations such as operational constraints, workforce dynamics, safety culture, and implementation feasibility.
• Support recruitment of mine sites and participants for implementation and evaluation activities.
• Assess current communication approaches and support development of communication strategies to increase awareness, understanding, and use of NIOSH research, resources, and health and safety solutions.
• Identify target audiences, key messages, appropriate communication channels, and timing for outreach efforts.
• Recommend approaches for tailoring communications to mining leadership, frontline workers, industry organizations, and other stakeholder groups.
• Support development and preparation of partner communications, meeting materials, outreach materials, and other project-related content.
• Assist with planning and preparation for implementation and evaluation of programs, interventions, and translational products.
• Support data collection efforts, data management, analysis, interpretation of findings, and reporting of results.
• Assist with development and dissemination of reports for participating mine sites and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with NIOSH investigators and project personnel on manuscripts, trade publications, presentations, and other research or evaluation outputs.
• Support development and dissemination of translational products related to implementation and evaluation activities.
• Maintain clear documentation of stakeholder engagement, implementation activities, evaluation activities, and project progress.
• Perform other contract-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in public health, evaluation, occupational health, industrial hygiene, mining, engineering, social science, or a related field.
• Professional experience in public health evaluation, program evaluation, implementation science, occupational health, mining-related health and safety, or a closely related area.
• Demonstrated experience engaging external stakeholders and developing collaborative partnerships.
• Experience supporting implementation or evaluation of programs, interventions, or applied research activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational, facilitation, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to travel to mine sites and industry events throughout the United States.
• Must reside in the Spokane, Washington area or be willing to relocate to the Spokane area. Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in public health, evaluation, occupational health, industrial hygiene, mining, engineering, social science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of evaluation science, implementation science, or mixed-methods evaluation approaches.
• Experience working with mining companies, mine operators, mining trade associations, or other mining industry stakeholders.
• Existing professional relationships within the U.S. mining industry.
• Experience supporting a federal agency or federal contract.
• Experience with data collection, data management, qualitative or quantitative analysis, and preparation of technical reports.
• Experience developing manuscripts, presentations, translational products, or industry-facing communications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Work Environment and Travel The position will be based in the Spokane, Washington area. Most planning, coordination, analysis, and reporting activities will be performed from the employee's assigned work location. Travel will be required to mine sites, stakeholder meetings, conferences, and other locations as needed to support contract activities. Because mine sites commonly operate multiple shifts, occasional work outside standard business hours may be required.
