Job Summary The Executive Director provides overall leadership and management of the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce and is responsible for carrying out the mission, goals, policies, and strategic direction established by the Board of Directors. Also oversees Chamber operations, membership development, financial management, programs and events, staff, communications, community engagement, advocacy, and facility operations. Serves as the Chamber's principal spokesperson and builds productive relationships with businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and community partners. Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and day-to-day management of Chamber operations.
- Implement Board-approved goals, policies, and strategic priorities.
- Serve as the Chamber's principal spokesperson and community ambassador.
- Lead membership recruitment, retention, and engagement efforts.
- Develop programs, services, and events that support Chamber members and the local business community.
- Build and maintain relationships with businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Monitor and communicate issues affecting local businesses, including economic development, workforce, and legislative matters.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, financial reports, revenues, and expenditures.
- Identify sponsorships, grants, partnerships, and other revenue opportunities.
- Supervise and support Chamber staff, committees, and volunteers.
- Oversee Chamber communications, technology, membership systems, programs, and events.
- Ensure Chamber facilities and operations remain professional, safe, and well maintained. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, marketing, communications, or a related field OR three to five years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Experience in organizational leadership, management, nonprofit administration, business development, or a related field.
- Strong communication, public speaking, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Experience with budgeting, financial management, fundraising, sponsorships, or membership development.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with a Board of Directors, employees, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
- Proficiency with standard business technology, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, websites, and membership software.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, initiative, and accountability.
Preferred :
Chamber of Commerce, membership association, nonprofit, economic development, workforce development, government relations, or community engagement experience.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
