Job Description

Job Summary Purpose of the
Position:
The executive director will be responsible for the overall operation of Veterans Residential Services (VRSW) and work in conjunction with the VRSW board of directors. The position in Wilson, NC, is an on-site position with flexible hours.
Job Duties:
Enroll Veterans in VRSW and assist them in finding and/or maintaining housing stability in the community through direct support through the agency or through referrals to other resources. Manage the finances for the agency working within the budget and working with the Board of Directors to maintain financial stability and reduce expenses. Establish working relationships in the community to include the U.S. VA, the NC VA and other Veterans' organizations in an effort to reach homeless and/or at-risk Veterans and to find to find resources for them and the agency. Utilize and supervise employees and volunteers. Identify and assist with ways to increase funding such as through grants, fundraising events, public appearance, etc. Attend board meetings and work closely with the board and its officers. Carry out all other duties that are required for successfully carrrying out the mission of the non-profit agency and those duties as identified by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferably in social work or human service field and/or experience in these areas preferred but not required and some experience working with Veterans would be helpful. Some knowledge or experience with budgeting, payroll, taxes and quarterly reports. Be computer literate and have some knowledge of spread sheets. Public speaking.
Salary and benefits:
Starting salary depending on qualifications -- $40,000 to $50,000
Health Insurance Vacation/Sick Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
