Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi Looking around our vibrant city, you'll see a variety of Council-owned buildings, both historic and modern, including libraries, community hubs, service centres, Te Hononga Civic Offices and the Art Gallery. Our Facilities Management team is dedicated to maintaining these important spaces, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and welcoming for both staff and the community. We are currently seeking a proactive and customer-focused Facilities Operations Officer to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As part of a team of four facilities operations officers, you'll play a key role in delivering a professional and responsive customer experience focusing mainly on libraries and community hubs.
Your responsibilities include:
Coordinating the delivery of reactive, scheduled, and planned maintenance across a diverse portfolio of Council facilities, ensuring high standards and minimal service disruption. Working with contractors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of maintenance, cleaning, and security services. Overseeing minor facility projects and internal relocations, ensuring that fit-outs and furnishings align with stakeholder requirements. Monitoring operational performance through audits, reporting, and record-keeping, while contributing to budget planning, procurement processes, and long-term asset management. Developing, implementing, and testing Business Continuity and Emergency Management Plans to support resilient facility operations. Delivering proactive, solution-focused customer service, and foster strong, collaborative relationships across Council teams and external partners. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei We are looking for a natural problem solver—someone who can step into the user's shoes and develop practical, user-focused solutions. This role involves managing a diverse range of requests and challenges, so you will need to be: Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Able to manage a varied and changing workload A clear and confident communicator A solid understanding of facilities management, building maintenance, or property-related matters will give you a strong foundation.
