ROLE OVERVIEW PURPOSE OF JOB
South Dakota Trust Company's business is designed to accommodate the needs and desires of wealthy clients, both domestically and internationally, providing "flexible, cost-effective, service-oriented trust administration" in the #1 rated domestic trust jurisdiction. SDTC's core focus is to serve families' individual goals, while preserving family wealth in perpetuity. Trust operations officers form a team with 2 to 3 trust administration officers to provide clients with holistic administrative and operational solutions. An operations officer is responsible for providing back-office support, ensuring compliance with AML requirements, and becoming a liaison for our trust accounting software, banking partners, and custodians.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Ensure payments for trust clients are made timely and are in accordance with the terms of the trust document and/or prevailing legal document. Maintain and update client data in trust accounting system. Enter trust holdings onto trust accounting system based on legal documentation. Ensure client statements are provided to clients and answer client questions regarding the accounting. Collect tax filings for mailing and verify payments are coded accurately. Process tax payments to the appropriate taxing authority.
ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS
Bachelor's Degree required in the area of accounting, business, legal or related field. Proficient computer skills with MS Word, Excel, and/or related software. Ability to interpret financial statements and legal documents. Must have excellent communication and organization skills. Must have ability to multi-task. Understanding of trust tax reporting, including but not limited to, forms 1041, 1042, FBAR, and FATCA desired. Understanding of trust compliance regulations desired.
