Job Description

Director of Operations Crappy Cleanup Mesa, AZ Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $70,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Management Operations management Employee retention Hiring Business operations Crew management Full Job Description Run the field operation at one of Phoenix's fastest-growing home-service companies. Crappy Cleanup is scaling fast, and I'm the founder looking for a Director of Operations to own and grow our field team so I can focus on growing the business. This is the #1 operations seat — you'll lead the crews, build the systems, and be the person the whole operation runs through. This is not a corporate desk job. It's a hands-on leadership role for someone who has run field crews before and wants to build something, not just maintain someone else's machine. If you've been a strong #2 or a branch/area manager at a bigger company and you're ready to run the whole show, this is your shot. What you'll own: Lead and develop the field team — lead techs and crews — on performance, quality, attendance, and standards Build and hold the systems that keep a growing operation running: scheduling, routing, quality control, hiring, onboarding, and retention Own the operational numbers: productivity, call-out rate, quality scores, and retention Hire, train, and keep great field techs as we scale the team toward 20+ Step in on the field side when there's a gap (read the note below) Partner with me on growth — we're pushing hard on marketing and sales, and you make sure operations can deliver The field reality (read this closely): This is a player-coach role. Most days you're leading — but there will be days the team is short, and you need to be the kind of leader who'll jump in a truck and get the route done rather than let a customer down. If getting your hands dirty when it counts sounds beneath you, this isn't your seat. If it sounds like leadership, keep reading.
A note on schedule:
Our busy season runs September through April, and during those months the team works weekends — mostly lighter one-time jobs and new-client first visits, not full routes. Summers are quiet and we rarely run weekends at all. You won't work most weekends yourself, but you'll own that they run smoothly and be the point person the crew can reach if something comes up. Early starts come with the territory — crews roll between 6:30 and 7:30 depending on the season.
You are:
Someone who has actually run and grown a field crew — pest control, lawn/landscape, pool service, cleaning, or similar route-based home service is ideal Experienced leading 10+ field techs and comfortable scaling a team toward 20+ A builder of systems and process, not just a firefighter Steady under pressure — a growing operation is chaos, and you're the calm in it Willing to be in the field when needed Based in, or willing to work daily in, the Phoenix metro Compensation & benefits: $60,000-$70,000 base, depending on experience Performance bonus tied to growth and quality — on-target earnings around $95,000 Paid time off Monthly health stipend Company vehicle How to apply: Apply with your resume and answer the few quick questions below. Answer them honestly
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Health insurance Paid time off Application Question(s): What is the largest field team you have personally managed, and how did it change in size while you were leading it? What is the biggest revenue or growth number you have been directly responsible for? This role requires being willing to work in the field and perform services when the team is short-staffed. Are you willing to do this? Our busy season (September-April) includes weekend coverage — lighter volume, usually run by the existing crew with you overseeing and reachable. Are you comfortable leading a team that works weekends during peak months?
