Type:
full-time MHW Search is partnering with an established, privately held real estate investment firm to hire a Director of Operations for its multifamily portfolio. The firm has a long history of owning and operating real estate across the Western U.S., with a portfolio spanning multifamily and commercial assets. The company takes a long-term approach to ownership and operates with a lean corporate team, giving senior leaders meaningful involvement in both portfolio-level decisions and day-to-day execution. The Director of Operations will lead property operations across the firm's multifamily portfolio and serve as the senior point of contact between ownership, regional leadership and onsite teams. The role has broad responsibility across property performance, people, budgeting, revenue and expense management, capital projects, and operating standards. This is a hands-on leadership position. While the Director will be involved in portfolio strategy and financial performance, they'll also be expected to stay close to the properties and teams, understand what is happening at the asset level, and step in where needed.
Responsibilities include:
Oversight of multifamily property operations across a multi-state portfolio Leadership and development of regional and property-level teams Annual budgeting, forecasting and review of property financial performance Revenue management, expense control and operating performance Oversight of capital improvement and property enhancement initiatives Development and implementation of operating policies and procedures Partnership with senior leadership on portfolio strategy and key operational decisions Regular travel to properties throughout the portfolio
Qualifications:
10+ years of multifamily property management and operations experience Experience overseeing multiple communities and property-level teams Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting and property performance Proven experience leading and developing property management professionals Ability to operate effectively at both the property and portfolio level Comfortable in a hands-on, entrepreneurial ownership environment The position is based in El Segundo, and requires 5-days in-office, along with travel to the portfolio located in the West US.
