Job Description

Operations Manager (DOT) $80,000 - $90,000 year based on experience Friday thru Tuesday!! Wednesday and Thursday OFF!! 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM Lily Transportation is a rapidly expanding logistics and transportation company dedicated to providing exceptional service and timely delivery solutions. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Operations Manager (DOT Transportation) to join our dynamic team and help us continue our growth trajectory. Someone who is a strong self-starter that is results driven with the desire for future career growth. The Operations Manager serves as the second-in-command to the General Manager, supporting the daily operation and ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and customer-focused transportation services. The Operations Manager provides hands-on leadership to drivers, dispatch, and operational staff while maintaining accountability for service, safety, staffing, equipment, reporting, and continuous improvement. Position Expectations The Operations Manager is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be visible in the operation, comfortable making decisions, capable of resolving issues quickly, and prepared to assume operational responsibility when the General Manager is unavailable. Operations Manager (Transportation) essential functions: Leadership & Daily Operations Support and oversee daily operations and operating plans. Maintain strong communication and engagement with drivers and employees. Manage staffing, callouts, service disruptions, and daily operational coverage. Review daily performance and provide an action plan for identified gaps by 4:00 PM. Conduct employee orientations and reinforce site procedures and expectations. Conduct routine yard walks and address safety, equipment, and housekeeping concerns. Deliver required Tailgate communications. Support after-hours coverage when designated. Serve as operational backup to the General Manager. Escalate significant safety, staffing, customer, equipment, or operational issues to the General Manager. Dispatch & Administration Manage and oversee daily dispatch activities and TMW load building. Ensure loads are accurately built, dispatched, documented, and prepared for billing. Ensure the dispatch team maintains the minimum pallets per load target. Verify drivers, tractors, appointments, trip types, hub miles, leg miles, events, and required delay documentation. Ensure ETAs and service risks are communicated promptly. Review and correct payroll issues and ensure payroll is ready by the Monday 7:00 AM deadline. Review Z hours, holiday pay, Local Driver Pay, OTR pay, and other applicable driver compensation. Complete TMW invoicing when covering for the General Manager. Maintain assigned Citrix and operational reports and resolve exceptions. Ensure required daily and weekly operational reports are accurate and completed on time. Fleet & Equipment Monitor fleet performance, trailer counts, down units, and trailer placement. Partner with the Fleet Manager to maintain fleet processes and equipment readiness. Support Level 1 inspections and ensure documentation is maintained. Monitor and reconcile hub-mile activity and ensure discrepancies are corrected before payroll close. Monitor load-strap availability and usage. Provide operational and administrative fleet coverage when the Fleet Manager is unavailable. Support processes designed to reduce equipment damage and improve fleet accountability Safety Monitor driver HOS compliance and address potential violations. Review Samsara camera events daily and ensure appropriate follow-up. Complete documented driver coaching and corrective actions. Maintain required safety and compliance reports. Identify recurring safety risks and develop corrective action plans. Maintain current safety training and SOPs. Immediately escalate significant safety concerns to the General Manager. Reporting
  • Complete and distribute required daily reports and communications.
  • Maintain accurate DC, OOS, Trailer Tracker, communication log, and other operational reports.
  • Ensure trailer, equipment, service, and operational information is accurate before submission.
  • Complete the weekly KPI and Five-Week Reports when covering for the General Manager.
  • Ensure customer reporting is accurate, timely, and actionable. Compliance & Documentation
  • Monitor driver license and DOT medical-card expiration dates.
  • Ensure required employee and operational documentation remains current.
  • Complete Yellow Binder audits and follow up on deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate Concur activity and operational records.
  • Ensure assigned responsibilities are completed and properly documented. Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate emerging risks early and provide recommended solutions.
  • Develop and implement SOPs and process improvements.
  • Hold employees accountable to company and customer standards.
  • Work effectively with drivers, dispatch, fleet, stores, customers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Maintain a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, service, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:
Transportation experience in dispatch and/or operations supervision Warehouse, dock, and loading experience preferred Ability to work independently Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience with ELD software preferred Knowledge of
DOT, FMCSA & OSHA
