Salaried Exempt Salary Range:

Catholic Urban Programs is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Operations & Programs to help strengthen the systems, people, programs, and partnerships that make our work possible. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can see the big picture while ensuring the details move forward—someone who can develop leaders, strengthen programs, solve organizational challenges, and translate strategy into action. About Catholic Urban Programs Guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching, Catholic Urban Programs (CUP) advances human dignity, addresses the effects of poverty, and empowers individuals and families toward greater self-sufficiency through crisis intervention, housing security, and out-of-school-time programs. Our vision is to break the cycle of poverty and rekindle hope in those we serve. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations & Programs serves as a key member of CUP's leadership team and as the organization's second-in-command . The Director provides strategic and operational leadership across CUP's programs and organizational functions, working through managers and supervisors to strengthen program performance, staff accountability, service delivery, systems, facilities, grant compliance, data and outcomes, and continuous improvement. The position also partners closely with the Executive Director on organizational strategy, fund development, community partnerships, Board priorities, and long-term sustainability. What You'll LeadOrganizational & Operational Leadership Partner with the Executive Director to advance organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, and overall effectiveness. Serve as second-in-command and provide organizational leadership in the Executive Director's absence within established authority. Translate strategic priorities into actionable operational and program plans. Identify organizational challenges, develop solutions, and lead implementation and follow-through. Strengthen communication, accountability, collaboration, and operational consistency across CUP. Programs & People Provide leadership across CUP's Crisis Intervention, Housing Security and Shelter Services, Out-of-School Time, and Family Empowerment programs. Coach, develop, and hold program managers and supervisors accountable for effective leadership, service delivery, and results. Establish program goals, performance expectations, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement practices. Monitor program performance, staffing concerns, client outcomes, safety, compliance, and service quality. Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and leadership development. Policies, Facilities & Resources Lead implementation and continuous improvement of organizational policies, procedures, safety standards, and operational practices. Provide leadership for CUP facility needs, maintenance priorities, safety, improvements, and operational continuity. Partner with the Finance & Accounting Manager and other staff regarding purchasing, vendors, contracts, equipment, and organizational resources. Promote safe, organized, accessible, and effective environments across CUP locations. Grants, Data & Sustainability Identify grant and funding opportunities that align with CUP's programs, priorities, and community needs. Lead or support grant proposals, renewals, program narratives, outcomes, and implementation plans. Monitor grant deliverables, compliance, reporting requirements, program data, and performance expectations. Use Apricot and other program data to strengthen decision-making, service delivery, and outcomes. Partner with the Executive Director on fund development, funding relationships, and organizational sustainability. Community & Board Leadership Develop and maintain strategic relationships with community organizations, schools, service providers, funders, donors, and other stakeholders. Represent CUP in designated community partnerships, coalitions, and collaborative initiatives. Participate in Board and committee meetings as requested by the Executive Director. Prepare and present program, operational, outcome, and strategic information to the Board and organizational leadership. Help translate Board-approved priorities into clear operational and programmatic action. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, social services, organizational leadership, or a related field required; master's degree preferred. Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit leadership, organizational operations, program management, or a related environment, including significant leadership responsibility. Demonstrated experience leading across multiple programs, departments, or organizational functions. Strong experience supervising, coaching, and developing managers, supervisors, and staff. Experience strengthening organizational systems, policies, procedures, and operational practices. Strong understanding of program planning, implementation, evaluation, performance measurement, and continuous quality improvement. Experience working with grant-funded programs, including compliance, reporting, and performance requirements. Grant research or grant-writing experience preferred. Experience supporting fund development and building community partnerships preferred. Experience using program or case-management data to evaluate services and outcomes; Apricot experience preferred. Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with staff, leadership, funders, community partners, and Board members. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple organizational priorities while maintaining accountability and follow-through. Compensation & Work Environment The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $75,000-$80,000 , commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Director will maintain regular visibility across CUP programs and facilities and may travel between program locations or attend community, organizational, Board, and committee meetings. Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required based on organizational needs.
