About Us Oak Park School of Music is a community music school in Oak Park, IL, dedicated to providing high-quality music education and enrichment to students of all ages and backgrounds. We believe music education builds confidence, community, and lifelong skills. Position Overview We are seeking an organized, personable, and proactive Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our music school. This mid-level management role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and enjoys balancing administrative detail with hands-on community engagement. The Operations Manager will serve as the operational backbone of the school, ensuring smooth scheduling, strong communication between faculty, students, and families within a welcoming, well-run facility. Hours required for the position are Mondays through Thursdays from 1:00pm-8:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am-2:30pm. Occasional additional weekend hours required for recitals and events. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling of lessons, classes, recitals, and facility use Manage front-desk and administrative staff; ensure excellent customer service for students and families Coordinate faculty schedules, onboarding, and communication with the school's roster of music teachers Handle student enrollment, registration, tuition billing, and records management Maintain and troubleshoot the school's scheduling and billing software systems Plan and help execute recitals, performances, and community events Manage facility needs, including maintenance requests, room setup, and vendor coordination Support marketing and community outreach efforts (newsletters, social media, local partnerships) Assist the Director with budgeting and reporting Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students, families, and staff Handle day-to-day problem-solving and customer service issues as they arise Qualifications 3+ years of experience in office management, operations, or administrative leadership (arts/education setting preferred) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable interacting with students, parents, faculty, and the public Proficiency with scheduling/database software (e.g., registration or CRM platforms) and standard office software Experience supervising staff preferred Passion for music education and community engagement preferred Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience Compensation & Benefits $23-$28/hour, commensurate with experience Two weeks of paid vacation per year Annual performance bonus tied to school revenue growth Perks Free or discounted music lessons for staff and immediate family Free admission to faculty and visiting artist concerts year-round A supportive, close-knit team environment Opportunities for professional development How to Apply Please send a resume and cover letter to info@oakparkmusic.com. Pay:
