Job Description

Investment Operations ManagerPosition Overview The Investment Operations Manager will lead and oversee the day-to-day operational activities that support trading, portfolio management and investment administration. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate trade execution and settlement, portfolio accounting and reconciliation, operational control frameworks, and efficient use of platforms such as Tamarac. The manager will partner with portfolio managers, traders, custodians and technology teams to drive process improvements, mitigate operational risk, and deliver timely reporting to senior leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage and supervise daily trade lifecycle activities including trade capture, allocation, confirmation and settlement to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Oversee portfolio accounting, NAV calculation support and reconciliation of positions across custodians, brokers and internal systems.

Administer and optimize the Tamarac platform (or equivalent portfolio management/reporting systems) to support reporting, rebalancing, and data integrity.

Coordinate with traders and portfolio managers to support order routing, trading workflows and post-trade exception resolution.

Develop, document and enforce operational policies, procedures and internal controls to minimize risk and support regulatory compliance.

Lead, mentor and develop the investment operations team, including workload planning, performance management and cross-training.

Drive process improvements and automation initiatives (e.g., straight-through processing, data quality controls) to increase efficiency and reduce operational cost and errors.

Manage relationships with custodians, prime brokers, external administrators and technology vendors; escalate and resolve operational issues.

Prepare and present regular operational, performance and exception reports to senior management; support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.

Participate in project workstreams for system implementations, upgrades or integrations and ensure operational readiness for new product launches or strategies.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (CFA, CAIA) preferred.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in investment operations, middle office or portfolio administration with progressive responsibility; prior people management experience preferred.

Hands-on experience with Tamarac (or similar PMS/portfolio reporting platforms) and demonstrated ability to configure and maintain reporting and rebalancing workflows.

Strong knowledge of trading processes, trade settlement lifecycle, prime brokerage and custody operations.

Proven experience with portfolio accounting and reconciliation processes across multiple custodians and custodial data feeds.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and operational risk controls applicable to asset managers and wealth managers.

Technical proficiency with Excel (advanced), working knowledge of SQL or scripting for data analysis and experience working with portfolio/trading systems.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills with an ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.

Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and demonstrated track record of implementing process automation and control enhancements.
