The Director of Program Operations & Events is the lead operational steward of The Allen Center. This pivotal role is responsible for the scheduling, booking, technical coordination, and flawless execution of all public programming and private events. This is a dynamic, multi-faceted position that requires a unique blend of business savvy and cultural sensibility. The Director will partner closely with the Executive and Artistic Director to support the programming and execution of all programs self-presented by Newton Cultural Alliance. The Director is charged with actively growing and scaling earned revenues from our rental programs. Concurrently, as the primary face of the venue for creatives, the Director must possess deep performing arts industry expertise, serving as a highly skilled, peer-level partner to the national artists, local ensembles, and diverse culturalanizations that call The Allen Center home.Status:
Full-Time, Exempt (Requires regular weekend and evening hours aligned with the performance and rental schedule).Location:
Fully on-site at The Allen Center in West Newton, MA. ing: s to the Executive Director; directly manages event staff, contract audio/visual techs, and volunteers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Rental Sales & Revenue Growth Drive Business Development:
Actively market, pitch, and sell The Allen Center as a premier destination for cultural partners to meet and exceed annual earned revenue targets.Rental Pipeline:
Manage the entire rental sales pipeline: lead tours, negotiate rates, issue contracts, coordinate layouts, and oversee billing in coordination with the Bookkeeper.Iterate:
Continuously evaluate rental pricing, package structures, and marketing strategies to optimize venue utilization and maximize profitability during nonprogrammed hours. 2. Artistic Partnership & Technical Production Serve as anExpert Artistic Partner:
Leverage deep performing arts industry literacy to serve as a knowledgeable, empathetic, and highly capable liaison to visiting artists, agents, and ensembles. Understand and translate their technical riders, acoustic requirements, and staging needs into successful performances.Program Execution:
Work closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director of Cherry Street Music and the Visual Arts Coordinator to produce world-class concerts, gallery openings, and multi-disciplinary events. 3.Venue & Logistical Operations Master Scheduling:
Own the master scheduling calendar for The Allen Center.Logistics & Staffing:
Recruit, train, and schedule part-time event staff, audio/visual technicians, and volunteers.Front-of-House & Box Office:
Oversee box office operations, manage audience check-in, run concessions/bar services (including obtaining temporary municipal licenses), and deliver top-tier guest hospitality.Qualifications:
The Director of Program Operations & Events should be:An Industry Expert:
