Director of Operations Reports to the General Manager and Owner of the
Company Job Summary:
This position will orchestrate day-to-day operations in the manufacturing process including overseeing Production Scheduling, Lean & Process Optimization, Calibration & Quality Control, Supply Chain & Material Flow, & Workforce Leadership. This role will take complete ownership of production operations. The ideal candidate blends deep mechanical assembly experience with strict quality management (ISO 9001) to maximize product throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure 100% product compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with Management to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals.
  • Mentor and manage Manufacturing Floor Supervisor and Group Leaders.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing/Process Improvement Engineer to streamline processes and procedures.
  • Communicate with Facilities Manager on all building improvements, issues etc.
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress.
  • Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation by working closely with Materials Manager
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
  • Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors.
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations.
  • Communicate with the Sales and Engineering departments daily for productivity, efficiency and accuracy with respect to customer orders.
  • Communicate with Human Resources regarding any personnel issues and management of labor force.
Qualifications and Skills:
    Quality Systems Standards:
    Robust working knowledge of
    ISO 9001
    quality frameworks and rigorous calibration auditing compliance protocols.
      Technical Proficiency:
      Comfortable navigating modern ERP/MRP systems for production tracking, materials planning, and bills of materials (BOM) management.
        Assembly Methods:
        Familiarity with delicate instrument assembly techniques, including torch/induction brazing, micro-soldering, and precision laser welding.
          Certifications:
          Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt credentials are highly desirable.
            Production Leadership:
            Direct and coordinate daily plant activities, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and on schedule.
              Process Optimization:
              Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S) to boost productivity and reduce waste.
                Team Management:
                Supervise, mentor, and build the capabilities of production leaders, technicians, and floor staff.
                  Quality Assurance:
                  Collaborate with quality control to ensure all manufactured goods meet strict company and regulatory standards.
                    Supply Chain & Inventory:
                    Oversee inventory levels, manage supplier relationships, and coordinate logistics to prevent production delays.
                      Budget & Compliance:
                      Monitor operational budgets, control manufacturing costs, and enforce safety and compliance protocols.
                      Industry Experience:
                      5+ years of production or operations management experience in mechanical assembly or instrumentation manufacturing. BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA would be preferred.
                      Pay:
                      $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
