Job Description

R.A.D. Sports is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Director of Operations to join our growing team. About R.A.D Sports R.A.D. Sports is a leading contractor specializing in the construction of high-quality athletic and recreational facilities across New England. With over three decades of experience, we're known for being a leader in our industry and delivering top-tier synthetic and natural turf fields, tracks and courts. Our award-winning team handles everything from design through completion — building professional-grade sports environments for schools, municipalities and organizations. The Role This is a senior field leadership position responsible for coordinating manpower, equipment, construction operations and quality across the company's active projects. The ideal candidate must have extensive heavy civil construction experience, and a strong working knowledge of construction means and methods, earthwork, utilities, drainage, site development, grading, concrete, paving, materials and heavy construction equipment. This position requires someone who can look at the company's projects as a whole, anticipate operational needs and work closely with Company Leadership, Project Managers, and Site Superintendents to ensure projects are properly staffed, equipped and constructed. Responsibilities Oversee field operations across multiple active construction projects and provide leadership to Site Superintendents and field personnel. Coordinate manpower, crews, heavy equipment, and company resources between projects based on schedules, priorities, and upcoming work. Review construction sequencing, means and methods, constructability, and field productivity to help projects operate safely and efficiently. Regularly visit job sites to monitor progress, perform QA/QC reviews, identify issues, and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and company standards. Work closely with Project Managers and field leadership to anticipate labor, equipment, scheduling, and operational needs across the company. Help establish consistent field procedures and promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and productivity. Qualifications 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience preferred, with experience in a Superintendent, General Superintendent, Operations Manager, or similar field leadership role. Extensive knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, materials, equipment, earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, concrete, and paving. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, crews, manpower needs, and equipment simultaneously. Strong ability to read plans and specifications, evaluate field conditions, troubleshoot construction issues, and perform QA/QC reviews. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with both field and project management teams. Ability and willingness to travel regularly to active projects throughout New England.
