Increasing operating responsibility The Opportunity Kline Paper is seeking a motivated, practical individual who wants to learn how a successful paper-recycling business operates from the ground up. Working directly with the CEO, this person will learn the company's operations, customers, suppliers, equipment, logistics, people and financial drivers while taking ownership of increasingly important assignments. This is a developmental management position—not a finished general-manager role on day one. The successful candidate will begin by learning and supporting the business, then progressively assume responsibility for defined operating functions based on demonstrated judgment, performance and trust. What You Will Do Initially- Learn the paper-recycling business by working alongside the CEO and experienced employees in the office, warehouse and customer-facing environment.
- Develop a working understanding of material flow, receiving, sorting, baling, storage, shipping, inventory, equipment and facility operations.
- Assist with daily operating priorities, maintenance coordination, parts ordering, scheduling, vendor follow-up and problem resolution.
- Monitor assigned work, identify obstacles and follow issues through completion rather than waiting for repeated direction.
- Help organize operating information, recurring tasks, deadlines, contacts and procedures so that critical knowledge is documented and accessible.
- Build productive relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, carriers, service providers and other business partners.
- Learn how commodity prices, transportation, quality, volume, labor, equipment performance and customer requirements affect profitability.
- Support management reporting and begin using operating measures to identify recurring problems and improvement opportunities.
- Take responsibility for special projects assigned by the CEO and provide clear updates on progress, risks and next actions. How the Role Can Grow As knowledge and capability develop, the individual may assume broader responsibility in areas such as:
- Coordinating day-to-day facility and operating activities.
- Supervising employees, reinforcing expectations and building accountability.
- Tracking productivity, quality, safety, inventory, service and cost measures.
- Managing selected vendor, customer, transportation or service-provider relationships.
- Improving workflows, documentation, preventive maintenance and operating controls.
- Supporting customer retention, new-business opportunities and commercial analysis.
- Handling routine matters currently requiring the CEO's direct attention.
- Helping build the management depth and operating discipline required for long-term continuity and growth.
- Develop a commercial understanding of Kline Paper's market and customer base, including learning how to identify prospective accounts, determine key decisionmakers and understand customer recycling and service needs.
- Begin developing relationships with prospective customers and, with guidance from the CEO, participate in business-development activities designed to convert qualified opportunities into long-term customer relationships and revenue. What Success Looks Like
- Learns quickly through observation, questions and direct participation.
- Becomes dependable in assigned areas and closes the loop without being chased.
- Earns trust across the organization through consistency, honesty and follow-through.
- Anticipates routine problems and addresses them before they become disruptions.
- Improves organization, communication and accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Makes increasingly sound decisions with less day-to-day direction.
- Creates measurable capacity for the CEO to focus on major customers, growth, efficiency and long-term business priorities.
We are seeking someone who:
- Takes ownership after receiving appropriate training and direction.
- Prefers practical action and completed work over excessive discussion.
- Is curious about how the entire business works—not only one department.
- Is comfortable moving between the office, warehouse, customer conversations and basic financial discussions.
- Builds trust through integrity, discretion, consistency and respect for others.
- Adapts when market conditions, customer needs or operating priorities change.
- Uses sound judgment, recognizes when to ask for help and learns from mistakes.
- Communicates clearly and directly with employees, management, customers and vendors.
- Wants to build a long-term career and earn greater responsibility through contribution. Qualifications
- Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in operations, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, recycling, transportation, customer service or a privately held business environment.
- Experience coordinating work, solving operational problems or leading projects; prior supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to understand basic business measures, costs and operating performance.
- Strong organizational, communication and follow-through skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and learning business systems and reporting tools.
- Ability and willingness to work on-site in an active office and industrial operating environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, practical experience and demonstrated capability.
