  • Huntington Beach, CA / Remote Young Champions , an established nonprofit-sponsored leader in affordable youth recreation programs, is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, and results-oriented Operations Manager with a strong background in Sports Management to help oversee and optimize our franchise model etc.
This position will begin at approximately 15-20 hours per week , with strong potential to grow into a full-time leadership position based on performance, organizational growth, and program expansion. Young Champions provides affordable youth recreation programs including Cheerleading, Karate/Self-Defense, Soccer, and other youth sports and recreational activities throughout California. The Operations Manager will play an important role in keeping our organization running efficiently while supporting staff, instructors, programs, competitions, facilities, and continued growth and ability to work closely with the CEO, Program Director, Cheer Director and Accounting Manager. Franchise Expansion Plans Underway. We are looking for someone who combines sports management experience with strong Hiring, leadership, organizational, technology, AI, and problem-solving skills and who enjoys taking responsibility for making sure things get done. The position may be performed from our Huntington Beach office, or Hybrid combination . Some local travel to program locations, facilities, competitions, meetings, and special events may be required. Job Summary The Operations Manager will work closely with our CEO, Program Director, Cheerleading Director, Accounting Manager, administrative staff, and instructors to oversee and improve the organization's daily operations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to see both the big picture and the day-to-day details required to operate a successful youth recreation organization. Primary responsibilities include staff supervision and productivity, operational planning, scheduling, program coordination, policies and procedures, budgeting, reporting, event operations, safety, facility coordination, and organizational efficiency . This person should be proactive rather than simply responding to problems. We are looking for someone who can identify operational challenges, recommend solutions, implement improvements, and help management build systems that allow Young Champions to grow efficiently. Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Organizational Management Oversee and coordinate day-to-day organizational and office operations with our Primary Franchise Model with strong Hiring Skills. Help ensure programs, administrative functions, and operational activities run efficiently and on schedule. Develop, improve, document, and implement operational policies, procedures, systems, and workflows . Identify operational problems or inefficiencies and develop practical solutions. Establish systems for tracking assignments, deadlines, projects, and staff responsibilities. Coordinate schedules, meetings, office communications, and management priorities. Help organize and oversee program calendars, class schedules, competitions, special events, and operational deadlines. Ensure appropriate follow-up on projects and assignments so important tasks are completed on time. Support senior management with operational planning, organization, research, and special projects. Help implement scalable systems and procedures as Young Champions expands into additional communities. Staff Supervision & Productivity Supervise and support administrative and operational employees to maintain a motivated, accountable, and high-performing team . Help establish clear responsibilities, priorities, goals, and performance expectations. Monitor employee productivity and provide management with recommendations for improvement. Coordinate staff scheduling and workloads based on organizational priorities. Assist with employee training, development, performance evaluations, and accountability. Help create a positive, professional, and productive workplace culture. Work closely with the Hiring & Program Development Manager to ensure appropriate staffing for new and existing programs. Help management identify staffing needs and organizational improvements. Coordinate communication between management, administrative staff, coaches, instructors, and program personnel. Youth Sports & Program Operations Support the successful operation of Cheerleading, Karate/Self-Defense, Soccer, and other youth recreation programs . Coordinate with program directors, instructors, schools, facilities, and administrative staff to ensure classes operate smoothly. Help oversee new program launches after locations and instructors have been secured. Monitor class operations, enrollment, staffing, scheduling, facility requirements, and other program needs. Assist in evaluating programs and recommend improvements to enrollment, efficiency, instructor performance, parent experience, and program quality . Help resolve operational issues involving classes, instructors, facilities, schedules, equipment, or program administration. Maintain consistent operational standards as programs expand to additional locations. Help ensure programs remain organized, affordable, scalable, and responsive to community needs. Competition, Event & Venue Operations Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of cheer competitions, demonstrations, special events, and other youth sports activities . Coordinate event logistics from advance planning through setup, operation, and breakdown. Help coordinate event staff, facilities, equipment, vendors, security, admissions, awards, and other operational requirements as applicable. Assist with staff assignments and event-day responsibilities. Help ensure competitions and events provide an organized, safe, professional, and positive experience for athletes, families, coaches, and guests. Work with venues, vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders to support successful events. Review event operations afterward and recommend improvements for future events. Facilities, Equipment & Vendor Coordination Assist with coordination of offices, program facilities, equipment, supplies, and operational resources. Communicate with vendors, facilities, schools, and service providers as needed. Help ensure equipment and supplies are available where and when needed. Monitor facility-related issues and coordinate appropriate solutions. Help ensure program and event locations comply with applicable organizational safety requirements. Assist management with vendor relationships, purchasing decisions, and cost control. Financial & Performance Management Assist with operational budgets, expense forecasting, purchasing, and cost control . Monitor expenditures and help identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs without sacrificing program quality. Work closely with the Accounting Manager and leadership on operational financial matters. Track important operational and program Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) . Help monitor enrollment, attendance, staffing, program performance, event results, expenses, and other operational metrics. Prepare management reports summarizing performance, challenges, incidents, trends, and recommended improvements. Use operational and financial information to help management make informed decisions. AI, Technology & Process Improvement Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and other modern platforms to improve organizational efficiency, research, communications, reporting, scheduling, documentation, and problem-solving. Identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive administrative tasks. Help management evaluate and implement new technology and AI tools. Develop AI-assisted reports, procedures, training materials, communications, presentations, and operational documents . Improve internal systems for tracking programs, employees, facilities, projects, and organizational performance. Help train staff on appropriate and productive use of new technology and AI tools. Look for innovative ways technology can reduce administrative workload and allow staff to focus more time on program growth and service. Safety, Risk Management & Program Quality Help develop, maintain, and implement operational policies, safety procedures, and risk-management practices . Work with program leadership to promote safe and age-appropriate youth sports instruction. Help ensure coaches and instructors follow established organizational policies and safety requirements. Assist with documentation and review of incidents when necessary. Help management identify potential operational or safety risks and implement appropriate corrective measures. First Aid and CPR certification or knowledge is preferred. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Sports Administration, Recreation Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 2 years of relevant management or supervisory experience , preferably involving youth sports, recreation, program operations, facilities, events, or a related organization. Demonstrated leadership experience supervising employees and maintaining productivity and accountability. Strong operational, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to independently manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and managerial communication skills. Ability to work effectively with senior management, employees, instructors, facilities, vendors, parents, and community partners. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint , or similar productivity platforms. Comfortable using technology and learning new operational systems. Experience or demonstrated proficiency using AI tools such as ChatGPT for business productivity is strongly preferred. Preferred Experience Youth sports or recreation management. Cheerleading, martial arts, soccer, gymnastics, or other organized sports. Managing multi-location recreation or after-school programs. Supervising administrative or program employees. Sports competitions, tournaments, or event management. Venue or recreation facility operations. Budgeting, expense management, and financial reporting. Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational systems. Working with schools, school districts, recreation departments, or community organizations. Vendor and facility management. Performance reporting and KPI tracking. AI-assisted workflow automation and business productivity. First Aid/CPR certification. Previous Operations Manager, Assistant Manager, Program Manager, Sports Manager, or similar leadership experience. What We Offer Part-time position to start at approximately 15-20 hours per week.
