Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site Coordinator to lead and manage tax assistance programs at our educational institution. In this role, you will coordinate the delivery of free tax preparation services to diverse community members, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Duties Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of VITA tax assistance sessions, ensuring smooth operations across all sites. Recruit, train, and mentor student volunteers and staff members on tax preparation procedures, confidentiality protocols, and customer service excellence. Coordinate scheduling and logistics for volunteer shifts, ensuring coverage during peak tax season periods. Provide clear guidance on compliance with IRS regulations, educational policies, mandated reporting laws, and institutional procedures. Conduct outreach activities to promote the program within the campus community and local neighborhoods, utilizing public speaking skills to engage diverse audiences. Supervise the accurate collection and secure storage of sensitive client information using systems such as PeopleSoft or Student Information Systems. Evaluate program effectiveness through analysis of service delivery metrics and feedback, continuously seeking improvements in process efficiency and client satisfaction. Requirements Proven experience in education administration or academic institution settings with familiarity in student support services. Strong public speaking abilities combined with excellent communication and writing skills for training sessions and outreach efforts. Knowledge of tax software such as Ellucian or similar platforms used for data entry and reporting. Experience in interviewing clients to assess needs and provide tailored guidance on financial or academic matters. Demonstrated mentoring skills with the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and correspondence purposes. Understanding of educational compliance standards, regulation adherence, and mandated reporting laws relevant to academic environments. Analysis skills for evaluating program outcomes and implementing data-driven improvements. Previous experience working with students or in recruiting volunteers for community service initiatives is preferred.
