Job Description

Overview We are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager - Private Country Club & Hospitality Operations to lead and enhance the overall member experience, operational excellence, and team performance within a well-established private club setting. This pivotal role requires a passionate leader with hospitality management expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a strong financial and operational oversight. As the leader behind daily club operations, you will oversee the Food and Beverage Manager, Racquet Sports Director, Fitness Director, and Membership Director while fostering a welcoming environment that exceeds member expectations and ensures consistent service across all departments. The General Manager will play a key role in developing strong teams, improving operational efficiencies, supporting membership growth, and maintaining high standards throughout the club. Responsibilities Oversee the comprehensive daily operations of the private country club Provide direct leadership and accountability to the Membership Director and department heads Manage overall club operations, staffing, service standards, and departmental performance. Maintain a visible presence throughout the club and build strong relationships with members and staff. Develop and implement initiatives to enhance member satisfaction, increase revenue, and improve operational efficiency. Work closely with the Food & Beverage team to improve cafe, bar, pool, event, and member dining experiences Oversee food and beverage operations, including service quality, labor, food costs, inventory, purchasing, margins, and profitability. Partner with the Membership Director to support membership sales, retention, on boarding, and member engagement. Establish goals and performance expectations for department managers and conduct regular leadership meetings. Monitor budgets, payroll, labor costs, expenses, purchasing, and departmental financial performance. Recruit, coach,develop, and retain strong department leaders. Train and support staff in customer service excellence, member relations, phone etiquette, and complaint resolution. Ensure the club is maintained to high standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety, and hospitality. Provide regular operational and financial updates to ownership. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, property standards, and applicable hospitality requirements. Foster a positive, accountable team culture built on strong leadership, communication, and collaboration. Qualifications Required Management experience in a private club, country club, resort, hospitality business, or similar customer-focused organization. Strong food and beverage management experience. Experience managing department heads and multiple areas of operation. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with budgeting, labor management, cost controls, and financial reporting. Ability to hold managers accountable while building a positive team culture. Strong commitment to member service and hospitality. Comfortable working directly with ownership. Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as club operations require. Preferred Private club or athletic club management experience. Experience in a membership-based business. Experience with membership growth and retention. Familiarity with racquet sports, fitness, aquatics, or recreational club operations. Success in this role will be measured by strong member satisfaction, continued membership growth and retention, improved food and beverage performance, sound financial management, and the development of effective, accountable department leaders.
Pay:
From $150,000.00 per year
