Job Description

Operations Manager
  • 1st Shift Central Storage & Warehouse Co.
  • Pleasant Prairie, WI $74,000
  • $85,000 a year to start + $15,000 annual target variable compensation (paid quarterly) with opportunities for meaningful annual raises based on performance.
Central Storage & Warehouse (CSW) is the premier provider of third-party refrigerated warehousing services in the Midwest and a top-15 cold storage provider in North America. We are looking for an energetic leader who has a passion for developing a team and solving problems. Our success is a result of our People First value where we invest in and develop our people at all levels which translates to a rewarding workplace culture and exceptional customer service. Our senior leadership team comes from the United States Navy and Marine Corps and have an extensive track record of building and growing leaders. This is a career-track leadership role. You'll own a shift, run the floor with real autonomy, and be developed deliberately for what comes next. Operations Managers are CSW's primary pipeline for Senior Operations Manager, General Manager, and beyond; we look first to our own Operations Managers to fill those roles before we look outside the company.
Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday, 1st shift (generally 6:00
  • 7:30 AM start
  • 2:30
  • 4:00 PM finish), with on-call availability roughly one Saturday a month (no set weekend facility presence required). What you'll own:
  • Drive performance. Manage daily labor planning, keep the building on schedule against truck turn-time targets, ensure goods are shipped and received accurately without damages. Use tools like Datex (warehouse management), Takt (labor management), and Omni (data analysis) to understand how your team is performing and where to intervene.
  • Develop people. Set clear expectations for your supervisors and warehouse associates, give them regular feedback, and identify the next generation of leaders on your team. You'll own the growth of the team on your shift, and you'll be expected to coach and develop them accordingly.
  • Run the shift. Act as the GM's direct extension on the floor, coordinating between the warehouse, office, and customers, and stepping into the GM's role while the GM is out or busy without waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
  • Own certain customer relationships on your shift. Communicate proactively with customers about shipment status, appointment changes, or service issues. Engage and develop relationships with peers at key customer accounts.
  • Hold the safety and quality standard. Ensure equipment is operated safely, emergency procedures are understood and followed, and the building is ready for both planned and unplanned audits. What we're looking for:
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing
  • Cold storage experience preferred, but not required, we'll train the specifics
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment and being on your feet on the floor throughout the day
  • Someone who solves problems before they escalate, and is excited about implementing new processes and solutions
  • A genuine interest in developing and building meaningful relationships with our people, this role is as much about growing your team as it is about running the operation
  • A hunger and drive to grow individually within a fast-paced organization that expects and rewards commitment and excellence
Why CSW:
  • A real path forward. The career ladder here isn't theoretical: Operations Manager → Senior Operations Manager → General Manager → Director of Operations. As we continue to double in size, we need leaders who've grown up inside CSW to run our newest facilities, and we look internally first, every time.
  • Investment in you as a leader, not just an employee. CSW's Head of People works directly with Operations Managers and GMs on leadership development, drawing on practices from both the Marine Corps and corporate America. Ongoing coaching aimed at making you a stronger leader, on and off the floor.
  • A company that's actually growing. We've completed a facility expansion or new build on average every year for the last decade, and we operate five strategically positioned facilities across Wisconsin today, with more growth ahead.
  • Stability most of the industry doesn't offer.
CSW is family-owned with a 75+ year history serving food, beverage, and life sciences customers. Our people-first approach has produced significantly lower turnover than industry averages, you're joining a team, not a revolving door. Annual facility events, corporate Brewer's game, holiday parties, and a meaningful sense of team.

  • Profit sharing of 7% of salary, beginning after one year of service
