Job Description

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers. The base pay for this position is $17.65. We offer a $50 attendance bonus for every two weeks in which you miss no time, not including our shutdown periods. This bonus would provide an extra $0.62 to your hourly rate.
Job Summary:
Fills tickets for the Weave Room for orders to be woven.
Tools and Equipment used:
Pen, Filling buggy/pin truck, Cherry Picker, Tablet or scan gun
Essential Functions:
Perform the following duties according to
IS0 9001
work instructions and standards: Determine order to be filled from Supervisor and/or printed ticket. Record loom# obtained and # of tickets to be filled. Obtain yarn from bins. Match filling lots to minimize cloth defects associated with shade changes. Use piece cones when possible, but make sure lots are not mixed if a (X) is present. If mixed lots are allowed, follow all guidelines for proper filling of order. Fill ticket as specified. Be sure there is a sufficient amount of the correct yarn colors to complete the order. Make sure all SAP transactions are performed correctly and yarn is properly adjusted. Take yarn to the Transport staging area to be taken to the loom by the Transporter. Keep yarn bins clean and in order when filling tickets. Make sure to bag all "white" yarn. Perform other duties as assigned. Work scheduled overtime as required.
Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Maintain 5 S standards. Ear protection required in Weave Room at all times and safety belt/harness required when using motorized equipment.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others. Basic reading, writing, and math skills Must be able to discern colors and pass a color blindness test.
