Packaging Associate Job Description The Packaging Associate supports custom packaging and crating operations by staging materials, assembling and constructing wood crates, and preparing products for shipment in a fast-paced production environment. This role involves hands-on work with lumber, plywood, foam products, and hardware, ensuring that all packaging meets quality and safety standards while maintaining an organized and efficient workspace. Responsibilities Stage and organize packaging materials including lumber, plywood, foam products, hardware, and shipping supplies. Assist with the assembly and construction of custom wood crates and packaging solutions. Measure, cut, and prepare materials according to specifications and work instructions. Support production teams with packaging, crating, and shipment preparation activities. Load, unload, move, and transport materials throughout the facility using appropriate material handling equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times. Inspect packaging materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Follow all safety procedures, company work practices, and production guidelines. Perform general labor tasks as needed to support overall production and packaging operations. Use pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling tools in a safe and efficient manner, where authorized and trained. Essential Skills Experience in packaging, production, or general labor within a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for measurements and material preparation. Comfortable performing basic math calculations and measurements to follow specifications. Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials throughout the shift. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods in a fast-paced production environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions and safety procedures. Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving materials within a facility. Familiarity with pallet jacks and forklifts, with the ability to operate them safely where training and authorization are provided. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in assembly or construction, particularly working with wood, is highly beneficial. Experience in inventory support, such as staging and organizing materials, is an advantage. Previous exposure to custom packaging or crating operations is a plus. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a production setting. Strong reliability, punctuality, and willingness to learn specialized packaging and crating techniques. The position involves regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials throughout the facility, as well as frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling during the shift. You will work with lumber, plywood, foam products, hardware, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment in an active production setting with a consistent 4x10 schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
