Order Picker (Cherry Picker Operator)
Position Overview:
The Order Picker (Cherry Picker Operator) is responsible for efficiently filling customer orders by selecting products manually from shelves or bins using a cherry picker, preparing orders for shipment, and ensuring that all orders are accurate and complete. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating a mobile lift/cherry picker and have a strong attention to detail. This role requires standing, walking, lifting, and handling various equipment and tools within a fast-paced, modern warehouse environment. The candidate should be comfortable with heights, as the cherry picker elevates up to 25-30 feet to pick merchandise. Key Responsibilities of a
Cherry Picker Operator:
1. Order Picking & Material Handling Operate the cherry picker (manual order picker) to retrieve items from high racks (up to 25-30 feet) using pick lists. Retrieve and prepare merchandise for shipment by following company order processing guidelines. Examine and inspect stock items for defects or damage before packing, reporting any issues to supervisors. Count and verify stock items to ensure accurate inventory, and record counts using electronic devices. Re-box products as needed to meet quality standards and improve packaging. Perform tasks outside the normal work area when requested to meet operational needs. 2. Technology & Inventory Tracking Use electronic mobile devices to scan merchandise and verify inventory counts. Track and record daily work performance using the Labor Tracker Metrics System. Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for picking, packing, and shipping activities. Participate in training for continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and quality. 3. Warehouse & Operational Support Work within a modern distribution center (DC), utilizing various types of automated and mechanized material handling equipment. Ensure all orders are filled accurately and completely, meeting company standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Cross-train in various warehouse tasks to promote workforce flexibility and meet labor demands. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to workplace safety standards and PPE requirements. Support various departments and other warehouse staff by assisting with tasks as needed. 4. Safety & Compliance Operate powered industrial trucks and cherry pickers safely to prevent injury to yourself or others. Adhere to company safety policies and ensure all safety regulations and procedures are followed. Maintain acceptable attendance and report any absences promptly to minimize disruption in operations. 5. Additional Responsibilities for a Cherry Picker Operator Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by management on a day-to-day basis. Ensure quality and accuracy are prioritized over speed when processing orders.

Requirements Key Requirements:
Education :
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience :
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating a cherry picker or similar equipment in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment. Prior experience with high-bay racking systems and order picking processes is preferred.
Skills :
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order picking and inventory handling.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read pick lists, and maintain clear records of material handling.
  • Basic math and measurement skills to verify quantities and product specifications.
  • Comfort with using barcode scanners, mobile devices, and basic warehouse management software.
Communication :
Able to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to follow written instructions, safety rules, and standard operating procedures.
Professionalism :
Demonstrates a positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to adapt to shifting business needs.
Availability :
Must be able to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, or holidays, as required by production schedules. Flexibility is essential due to fluctuating operational demands.
Language Skills :
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to follow instructions, report issues, and interact with team members.
Drug Test Requirement :
This position is subject to pre-employment drug screening. Continued employment may be contingent upon compliance with company drug-free workplace policies.
Physical Requirements :
This position is highly equipment-based, with extended periods of time spent standing and operating a cherry picker. Some physical activity is required in support of order picking and material handling tasks.
Mobility :
Must be able to operate elevated equipment safely and efficiently. Occasional walking, climbing on and off the cherry picker, and navigating the warehouse floor.
Lifting and Carrying :
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Standing Work :
Majority of the time spent standing while operating the cherry picker. May require standing and walking when retrieving products or assisting with other warehouse tasks.
Manual Dexterity :
Must be able to operate warehouse equipment, operate devices such as tablets, scanners, etc., and handle materials safely and efficiently.
Work Environment:
Warehouse and production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations. PPE provided and required.
Travel Requirements :
This position may require occasional travel to various distribution centers within the company's network, as part of labor shifting, training, and other business-related needs. Travel requirements will vary based on operational demands and are subject to change as needed. HTISPT1
Pay:
$17.50 - $18.50 per hour
