Job Description

Job Summary The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing inventory levels through merchandise strategy, assortment selection, pricing, promotions and developing the line plan for the consumables and specialty merchandise. Determine vendor selection and negotiate product purchase terms as well as manage the ongoing vendor relationships. Stay abreast of market and competitor trends and identify new opportunities. Manages in the procurement, receipt, disbursement, and inventory control of material to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels Responsibilities Implement methods, practices and techniques to ensure the most economical movement of materials through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective logistics practices and inventory levels while meeting customer delivery requirements Ensure correct levels of inventory of retail store Drive incremental sales by developing merchandising strategies and extending the assortment for consumable and specialty products Plan, purchase, communicate and control merchandise selection for consumable and specialty products to maximize sales and margin and contribute to the business and financial goals of the merchandising in store and on-line. Responsible for annual inventory budget Assist with inventory control. Provide suggestions and assist with implementation of new controls. Ensure that Celerant Database is accurate and complete at all times. All orders to vendors must be accompanied by a purchase order generated from the RMS Database. Clear out old purchase order data and adjust expected receipt dates weekly. Negotiate profitable product costs and contract terms (including leveraged inventory, returned goods allowances, etc.) with vendors to achieve sales and margin goals for assigned sub-category(s). Develop and manage vendor relationships to ensure the best prices, products and shipments Create and deliver project reports/metrics for management and customers Review sales by item and sub-category to determine whether appropriate profit margins are being maintained. Develop innovative solutions to tactical and operational problems and roadblocks. Oversee the analysis of current internal trends and market factors to forecast the success of new merchandise items. Partner with private label sourcing to develop programs that meet these objectives. Stay abreast of market and industry trends Provide training and education to employees on use of reports related to supply chain management techniques, various business systems, and other related tools to ensure timely and economical completion of customer requirements Implement methods, policies and techniques to ensure the most economical movement of materials through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective logistic practices and inventory levels while meeting customer delivery requirements Identify and implement cost reduction and increase opportunities Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. Development of department work instructions Other duties may be assigned Requirements Significant purchasing experience in a retail environment (preferably in sporting goods) Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving. Proven negotiating skills Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize internal applications Demonstrated results in cost savings and on-time delivery Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, "self-starter" environment serving as a catalyst for change and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously Firearm experience is mandatory
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
