What You'll Do As the Purchasing Supervisor, you will oversee daily purchasing activities and help ensure materials are available to support manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities Supervise, support, and develop the purchasing team to drive performance and accountability. Review, approve, and monitor purchase orders for accuracy, timeliness, and policy compliance. Proactively manage material availability and mitigate supply chain risks to maintain production schedules. Partner with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams to align purchasing activities with operational needs. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve quality, service, delivery, and cost competitiveness. Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, contracts, lead times, and service expectations. Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary. Support strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier qualification processes. Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities. Participate in Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes and meetings. Resolve material shortages, quality issues, engineering changes, and production constraints through cross-functional collaboration. Track and report purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance metrics. Ensure compliance with company policies, purchasing procedures, and regulatory requirements. Coach, mentor, and train team members to support professional growth and department effectiveness. Champion continuous improvement initiatives throughout procurement and supply chain operations.
Requirements:
What You'll Bring Education Bachelor's Degree in one of the following or a related field: Supply Chain Management Business Administration Industrial Engineering Logistics Operations Management Experience Minimum of 8 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience supervising purchasing professionals and managing supplier performance. Strong background in purchasing processes, inventory management, and supplier negotiations. Experience purchasing both production materials and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) services preferred. Preferred Certifications
