Purchasing Administrator JMR Staffing - 2.8 New Britain, CT Job Details Full-time $23.50 - $25.50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Interpersonal skills Continuous improvement Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description Overview Our client in Berlin, CT is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join their manufacturing team. This position is responsible for procuring raw materials, components, packaging, and operating supplies while ensuring inventory levels support production schedules. The Purchasing Specialist will work closely with suppliers, production, warehouse, engineering, accounting, and sales to maintain material availability, improve vendor performance, and control purchasing costs. In addition to purchasing responsibilities, this role will coordinate domestic and international shipments, manage import documentation, and support logistics activities to ensure products and materials move efficiently through the supply chain. Duties Source and purchase raw materials, production components, packaging materials, and indirect supplies Create and manage purchase orders within Sage ERP Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery Review vendor acknowledgements and resolve pricing, quantity, or delivery discrepancies Build strong relationships with suppliers and maintain regular communication regarding lead times, inventory availability, and production schedules Work with management to identify cost savings and alternate sourcing opportunities Monitor supplier performance including quality, pricing, and delivery reliability Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, and pricing within Sage Support inventory planning by purchasing materials that align with production demand while minimizing excess inventory Qualifications 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships Experience using ERP systems (Sage 100 preferred) Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain processes Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Skills Strong negotiation and vendor management skills Exceptional organization and attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines Analytical and problem-solving mindset Sense of urgency and ownership Team-oriented with excellent communication skills Continuous improvement mentality Walk-Ins Welcome!
