Job Description

Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor PDQ Workholding |
Columbia City, Indiana Job Type:
Full-time, Exempt Reports to: General Manager About the Opportunity PDQ Workholding is seeking a hands-on Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor to lead purchasing, shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, and logistics activities at our Columbia City manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who can balance daily execution with supplier development, cost control, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will partner with production, engineering, planning, customer service, and suppliers to keep materials moving, maintain inventory accuracy, support on-time delivery, and strengthen PDQ's quality systems and integration within Walter and Sandvik. What You'll Do
  • Lead procurement of raw materials, purchased components, tooling, MRO supplies, and services.
  • Source, evaluate, and develop suppliers based on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery agreements while proactively managing supply risks and lead times.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, warehouse organization, material flow, freight carriers, and domestic and international shipments.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, transaction audits, discrepancy resolution, and effective reorder strategies.
  • Supervise and develop purchasing, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and logistics employees.
  • Establish departmental goals and KPIs; use purchasing, inventory, freight, and supplier data to drive improvement.
  • Help establish and maintain ISO and ITAR quality-management requirements, including document control, training, audits, corrective actions, records, and management reporting.
  • Improve ERP data integrity, standard work, safety practices, supply-chain efficiency, and operational costs.
  • Collaborate across departments to support production requirements and accurate, on-time customer delivery. What You'll Bring
  • Three or more years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, operations management, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, logistics, supplier management, and manufacturing operations.
  • Effective negotiation, analytical, organizational, project-management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Experience in machining, tooling, or industrial manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across departments. Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work throughout office, warehouse, and manufacturing areas.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Use standard office equipment and warehouse-related systems. Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting salary: $60,000 per year, with final compensation based on experience and qualifications.
