Description We are looking for an experienced Sr Manager Sourcing to lead strategic procurement initiatives focused on marketing-related spend for a company in Akron, OH. The role itself is a REMOTE role, but we'd love someone close to the location in case an onsite meeting were necessary. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders to shape category plans, run complex competitive bidding events, and uncover opportunities to improve value across supplier relationships. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, a data-driven approach to sourcing decisions, and the ability to guide negotiations involving legal, finance, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives for marketing categories, including planning, supplier outreach, bid management, evaluation, and final award decisions.
- Build category strategies by assessing spend patterns, business needs, market conditions, and supplier capabilities to support long-term procurement goals.
- Identify suitable suppliers, compare proposals using analytical methods, and present clear recommendations that balance cost, quality, and service requirements.
- Direct complex RFP processes in the marketing space and ensure projects move forward on schedule while maintaining a fair and competitive bidding environment.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to define sourcing priorities, align on objectives, and strengthen collaboration across related programs and spend areas.
- Negotiate commercial terms and contractual agreements in coordination with legal and finance teams to secure favorable outcomes and manage risk.
- Drive cost-reduction opportunities and process improvements through category reviews, performance tracking, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support and develop team members through coaching, project guidance, cross-training, and practical feedback that strengthens sourcing and project management capabilities.
- Create and maintain sourcing roadmaps that outline project pipelines, resource needs, and execution plans to meet departmental and corporate commitments.
- Represent the organization in interactions with external suppliers and maintain productive vendor relationships during sourcing events and ongoing engagements. Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or purchasing roles with increasing responsibility.
- 2+ years of direct experience managing marketing categories, including work with creative, brand, production, or marketing technology suppliers.
- Demonstrated success leading complex RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract negotiations from initiation through execution.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and align cross-functional teams around sourcing strategies.
- Solid project management capabilities with experience handling multiple initiatives, timelines, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, including the ability to assess spend, identify savings opportunities, and support data-based recommendations.
- Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning and procure-to-pay systems.
- Experience overseeing category management, supplier negotiations, and procurement practices within a corporate environment.
