What You Will Be Doing:

The Environmental Program Specialist 3 (Tanks & Spill Response Specialist) supports the Alaska Army National Guard (AKARNG) by leading environmental compliance and conservation programs, with a focus on water resources, tanks, and spill response. The position serves as a subject matter expert responsible for planning, designing, documenting, and managing environmental projects and contracts. Working within the Environmental Section and coordinating with the DMVA Facilities Management Office (FMO) and AKARNG operations, the role ensures regulatory compliance, effective project management, and well-organized environmental records. This position is well suited for an environmental professional interested in resource management, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship in a mission-focused setting.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources. AND Professional experience developing knowledge and skills in environmental regulations, pollution control, environmental damage recovery, or programs to improve or protect environmental quality; or learning to evaluate the potential environmental and socio-economic impacts of construction projects; prepare environmental documentation; and determine, negotiate, and monitor permitted activities. Job Specific Requirements:

May travel to remote areas of the state to support the Department`s missions. DMVA is housed on the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military base. The incumbent must be able to pass security check to access this federal military installation. Adherence to special security guidelines, protocol, etc. for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson needs to be followed. Position may be exposed to pathogens (Hepatitis, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)) for which vaccines and personal protective equipment are the most appropriate form of protection.
