Examples of Work The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer. Lead and coordinate activities of the Internal Civil Rights Program staff and all related administrative functions. Interpret federal laws, rules, and regulations related to the Internal Civil Rights Program. Prepare and submit to Division management for approval a variety of statistical and narrative reports. Oversee, perform and assist in conducting investigations of alleged unlawful or discriminatory employment practices. Oversee, perform and assist in Federal Highway administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Title VI Program reviews and plan administration. Oversee, perform and assist in administering programs to ensure achievement of affirmative action goals and objectives. Assist ARDOT managers and employees with issues related to the Internal Civil Rights Program. Provide training and mentoring to team members and other ARDOT personnel. Minimum Requirements Educational equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR the educational equivalent to a high school diploma plus a minimum of four years of experience in a directly related field. Experience in a civil rights field. Experience leading people, programs or projects. Knowledge of civil rights issues specifically Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Must be able to multi-task and have good time management and organization skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to interpret and apply Department policies and federal regulations. Well-developed sense of urgency and follow-through. Ability to train others. Office environment. Occasional statewide travel including some overnight travel. : Valid Arkansas Drivers' License. ("Accredited" means the educational institution or program is accredited by an accrediting organization recognized either by the United States Department of Education or by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.) A criminal background check will be required to determine suitability of employment, and failure to meet these standards may cause the applicant to be rejected or terminated from that position. This position does not require theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge or a bachelor's degree or higher in the field; thus, this position is not eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship.
