Summary:
This position is responsible for providing support that contributes to the overall success of the CG Vape Free Project. The Outreach Specialist will engage elementary, middle, and high school youth by providing prevention training and providing small group and one-on-one diversion education and services for students at risk of suspension due to vaping. Youth support in an environment that fosters peer engagement with program planning and direction, to promote personal engagement with learning. Provide education about the risks of substance use. Education about Naloxone (Narcan): how to recognize an opioid overdose, where to find Naloxone, and how to administer Naloxone as a remedy. Support for middle and high school youth at risk of or experiencing suspension and/or expulsion that helps each student identify trauma and other potential causes for behavioral issues, offers referral to internal and external services that can help the student regain education, and provides support from program staff and peers. Provide community engagement and manage outreach through a variety of media, including creating flyers, posts on social media, webpage, press releases, posters, and other media as determined. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with the Casa Grande Alliance staff, the position assumes primary responsibility for training coordination delivering training, providing community outreach, and providing technical support for the CG Project Vape Free, including: 1. Works independently, with guidance and mentoring from the Vape Free Program Manager/ Director, on all phases of project development, support, and management through implementing effective management strategies. 2. Works directly with staff and community partners to identify community assets and needs; build capacity; plan, implement, and evaluate effective strategies. Provides regular written progress reports. 3. Works with project and agency staff to develop promotional and training collateral. 4. Delivers project training, prevention training, staff community events, and otherwise promotes the Casa Grande Alliance. 5. Develops and distributes flyers, social media posts, website updates, and other relevant communications. 6. Assists with compiling and managing project data, working with outside evaluators as needed. 7. Provides prevention education and awareness to the public, including participating in community events. 8. Must have, or obtain, an Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance card (based on
ADHS/DBHS
guidelines) within 60 days of hire. May be subject to additional investigations such as driving record, criminal history, and background check. 9. Must have reliable transportation and maintain adequate automobile insurance coverage. May be required to transport community members or youth as part of community activities or events. 10. Serves as the project representative in the community, including preparing and distributing meeting notes, programmatic updates, and other appropriate communications. 11. Creates meaningful experiences for volunteers, including volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, acknowledgement, and evaluation. 12. Research, identify, and work with agency fundraising. 13. Willing to take on other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's Degree and/or three (3) years' work experience in youth mentoring, social work, and/or prevention-related fields, or a combination of education and experience. Knowledge of social work, peer support programs, counseling strategy, treatment, and recovery. Knowledge of the service area. Knowledge and experience with volunteer engagement practices. Ability to design and deliver effective presentations, trainings, and workshops to a variety of audiences in a variety of settings. Business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar required. Filing and record keeping electronically and in hard copy. Ability to represent the organization in a professional and appropriate manner. Ability to work independently as a professional. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Willing to assist with Food truck. Skilled with Microsoft Office programs, Google products, Survey Monkey, Constant Contact, Canva, and other web-based services. Bilingual Spanish (preferred) Must pass drug test.
