Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Bird Program Coordinator & Parrot Caretaker, where your passion for avian welfare and expertise in bird care will shine! In this vibrant role, you will oversee the daily operations of our bird care, enrichment and educational programs, ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of our sanctuary parrots. You'll coordinate care routines, assist with behavioral enrichment activities, attend events and educate people about parrots. Responsibilities Oversee daily care routines for parrots, including feeding, cleaning and securing enclosures, and health monitoring Provides hand on interaction with parrots and behavioral enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors and mental stimulation Maintain detailed records of bird health, behavior observations, and enrichment schedules in online software Coordinate, train, and support volunteers assigned to the bird areas Provide education about parrot species, conservation efforts, and responsible pet ownership through engaging conversation and presentations at community events Assist with habitat maintenance, cleaning enclosures thoroughly while adhering to animal husbandry standards Assists with obtaining bird photos and videos for use in social media, outreach, educational materials, and fundraising efforts Requirements Prior experience working with animals, particularly large birds or exotic species Comfort interacting with large parrots Strong animal handling skills with an emphasis on parrots, safe restraint techniques, and behavior management Ability to perform cleaning duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety Ability to safely drive a vehicle. Ability to safely lift up to 40lbs. Basic computer skills Excellent communication and customer service skills
Pay:
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 30.0 per week Application Question(s): Please describe your experience working with large parrots.
