Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) 5151 State University Drive, Building #20, Los Angeles, CA 90032 The Position Under the direction and supervision of the Director or Assistant Director, the Senior Program Specialist Cinematic Art Chair will oversee the daily operations of the Cinematics Department. Candidates must be dedicated to increasing diversity in the student body and creating access to the program for students of color and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The selected candidate will provide visionary leadership in the development and expansion of the Cinematics program. They will develop curriculum, monitor budgets, hire, supervise and evaluate non-credentialed teaching artists, communicate with parents, and collaborate with the other arts department chairs. They will create opportunities for students to present their work in LA communities and high-profile events, and to work with non-profit arts providers in developing programing, outreach, and recruiting "pipelines" for prospective LACHSA students. They will recruit and admit students representative of LA's diverse populations, and foster a safe and inclusive culture among students and faculty. The School The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) is located on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) and was founded in 1985 to be a free public high school providing specialized arts instruction to highly talented and diverse students. Students come from 80 school districts throughout the entirety of Los Angeles County and are admitted by audition or portfolio. LACHSA opened in 1985 and presently serves as a launching pad for 550 world-class artistically talented 9th through 12th graders. Qualifications Experience:
Five years or more of classroom experience teaching film and five or more years of professional work as an artist, with a CV (Curriculum Vitae) representative of the candidate's level of achievement, arts teaching in an institutional setting with high achieving arts students. Experience in developing educational cinema programs as well as producing film productions, including technical video production expertise, is desirable. Background in curriculum design, teaching, program administration, and evaluation is also preferred. Education Masters Degree in Film or related field is preferred. License or certificate Possess and maintain a valid Clear California Single Subject Theatre or English Teaching Credential with a Full English Learner authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent)
