Current OVSD classified employees may not hold two permanent job assignments. If you are already a permanent employee for the District and are interested in working more hours you may either submit a transfer request form to the Classified Personnel office or inquire about becoming a substitute in the same or other classifications, in addition to your permanent assignment. We reserve the right to limit the number of candidates to those deemed most qualified for the particular vacancy, based upon application screening and test scores. There will be an application screening for the position to verify that the minimum qualifications (education & experience) have been satisfied. We will email you via www.edjoin.org to advise you if you may participate in the written and/or performance exam. All candidates will be required to provide a photo ID with their signature. Face coverings are highly recommended but not required. If you pass the written and/or performance exam, you may be scheduled to participate in the Oral/Technical Exam. Candidates must pass each portion of the exam in order to proceed in the recruitment and be placed on the eligibility list. The eligibility list for this recruitment will be valid for one year. A link to Study Guides is provided at the bottom of the email when your application is received. If you have already taken and passed the Instructional Assistant Competency Exam with one of the following districts, notify a member of the Personnel Commission staff at the time you are invited to the test:

  • Newport-Mesa Unified School District
Huntington Beach Union High School District Types of Exams and Tentative Dates Written Exam :
OVSD tests on Wednesdays. Once you have applied, it has been determined that your application is complete, and you have met the minimum qualifications, you will receive an invitation to test via email with the date of the exam. Please monitor your inbox for more information on testing/next steps2

Employees who are eligible, as described above, are required to participate in employee only medical, dental and life insurance coverage.
