Job Description
Essential Job Functions Program Development & Delivery:
Design public programming focused on technology education, digital media, and electronic resources. Provide individualized and group instruction to patrons using the library catalog, databases, Microsoft Office, e-borrowing platforms, and electronic devices such as tablets, e-readers, and smartphones. Assist users of all ages with computer troubleshooting, basic digital literacy, and general library inquiries in person, by telephone, and by email.Community Outreach and Collaboration:
Promote awareness and usage of library digital services through training and outreach. Participate in the planning and execution of additional public events and learning workshops tailored to various age groups and ability levels.Technology Integration & Staff Collaboration:
Keep current with emerging technologies relevant to library services and digital literacy. Serve on the Library IT Staff Task Force piloting new digital initiatives. Support internal training sessions for staff related to new technologies or systems.Program Administration & Data Management:
Track and report program participation, feedback, and data as required. Monitor and track budgets. Maintain organized and accurate records of program activities, materials, and outcomes. Evaluate program outcomes and adjust content to enhance service delivery.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Program Specialist must have good vision and hearing with or without correction. The role requires extended periods of walking, standing and handling materials. Additionally, the position requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently. The capacity to push a fully loaded book cart and perform tasks that involve reaching above shoulder level, bending, and squatting is vital. The role also involves the ability to drive a standard-size van for outreach and program activities.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS
Most of the work takes place inside a climate-controlled building, in both sedentary and standing positions. Some areas of the library may have high dust levels, which could trigger allergic reactions. The work involves frequent use of a computer and other equipment, which may lead to vision or hand/arm strain. The role involves frequent interaction with the public in a dynamic and busy environment.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Qualifications Candidates should possess a solid foundational background that demonstrates their ability to engage with the responsibilities of the role effectively. Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or university in computer science or related field required. Four (4) year degree is preferred. Relevant experience, training or technical certifications may substitute for preferred college degree. At least three (3) years of combined work experience in a library, school, or instructional and outreach settings including program planning and implementation. Proficiency in MS Windows, Office Suite, Internet usage, and common library software applications. Strong knowledge of digital resources, including e-book platforms, online catalogs, and mobile technology. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present information in an organized and clear manner with people of all ages and backgrounds. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record. Additional Information Pay Grade G08 Driving Position - Operating County vehicles and/or equipment is a primary function of this position.PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
