Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Senior Center Supervisor, help to implement classes, curriculums, and collection of fees for the Senior Center. The Senior Center Assistant must be available to provide full coverage of day-to-day operations of any of the following Satellite Senior Centers when the designated Site Manager is absent or not available.
Key Job Activities:
Provides clerical support to the Senior Center Manager. Provides receptionist support by greeting participants, helps implement daily activities for Seniors (educational, social, health initiatives, trips, events). Collects periodic feedback from program participants (about the effectiveness of provided services and programs) and generates client satisfaction surveys to track performance measures. Works in a cooperative manner with the other on-site staff, especially in the Education area. This includes the reporting of all statistics and outcome projects of the center related to the education and arts programs. Completes and submits incident reports to the site manager and DFSS appropriate staff. Provides on-site support for technology instruction. Must obtain Food Service Sanitation license. Complies with food safety and sanitation guidelines according to local, state, and federal guidelines for assigned location. Adheres to policies and procedures to ensure privacy and confidentiality of client records for both paper files and electronic databases; utilizes the division's Information System, and submits reports electronically to Sinai and DFSS. Attends weekly center meetings hosted by DFSS. Maintains attendance records and sign-in sheets for all center activities. Provides and assists with basic information requests; answers incoming phone call; provides linkage information and referrals related to older adult programs and available community services; disseminates informational resources, and assists walk-in clients (including older adults and their caregivers). Supports the Senior Center Supervisor in ensuring that the volunteers are competent, trained, to the mission of Sinai Community Institute and City of Chicago Senior Division. Recruit and retains volunteers to support the center's operations. Ensures compliance with all agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies while performing job duties In the absence of the Senior Center Manager, assigns work to volunteers and part-time staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
High School Diploma Knowledge and Skills:
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Medicare, Medicaid and Benefit Access. Experience in EPIC and
MEDITECH
software systems preferred.
