The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Students are our priority, and their health, safety, and overall well-being are our core mission. The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) supports co-curricular life at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) by fostering engaging programs and leadership opportunities for students. SILC staff work closely with students to help them grow as responsible leaders through hands-on experiences in campus programming and service. Job Summary The Summer Event Lead for summer programs as part of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) Programs initiative. This role supports the planning and execution of a variety of campus events - including outdoor movies, live music on Centennial Patio, and orientation activities - designed to enhance the student and campus community experience. In addition, the Summer Event Lead will help facilitate in-person orientation sessions during selected days. Department-Specific Responsibilities Plans and implements IMU Programs events each week including staffing each event. Responsible for managing activity areas throughout the union, adhering to safety measures and activity guidelines posed by the Program Coordinator. Serves as the main point of contact for the Weekly Open Mic and Trivia series with performers, student organizations, and departments. complying with emergency response plans. collect entertainment resources, decorate the IMU, staff information tables, and be present at programs. Establishes, with assistance from Program Coordinator, timelines for each weekly event. Leads staff meetings with other managers. Attends weekly 1:1 meetings with the Program Manager. Provides administrative support in scheduling meetings, running errands, and follow-up on assigned tasks. Assists with the planning and implementation of large campus wide events such as IU Day. Oversees Event Assistants and student organization volunteers that support IMU Programs events each week. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University SKILLS Required Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong customer service skills Ability to engage and interact effectively with a broad campus community Ability to collaborate with various campus departments, resources, and staff members Preferred Familiarity with the IUB campus and the IMU to assist with wayfinding and provide accurate directions Working Conditions / Demands The person in this role must be able to navigate assigned buildings for tours and crisis response. The person in this role must be able to move items up to 75 pounds multiple times per shift. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Advertised Salary $13.10 per hour Work Hours Up to 29 hours per week Evening and weekend availability may be required based on the event schedule. This is a summer only position May 25, 2026, through September 1, 2026.
