A Program Coordinator coordinates ongoing program activity, or a group of related projects, for a company or organization, usually performing administrative or human resources tasks.

Under general supervision, performs advanced administrative work in assisting with the planning and implementation of assigned programs to serve and assist citizens of the City of Kenner. Work involves assisting the Director with reports and payroll; verifying proof of identification and income for residents of Kenner; preparing a database of resident's addresses; printing forms and obtaining signatures; advising Stock Clerks what is needed; filing forms to use at a later date; stamping forms to be returned; preparing and submitting payroll; and inventorying food received. Reports to the Director. Serves as a point of contact when the director is out of the office. Duties of Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Creates program applications, forms, monthly reporting formats, and other vital tools needed to monitor program delivery and the successful attainment of all goals. Researches and provides information for the citizens of Kenner in reference to accessibility, housing, advocacy, transportation, laws, legislation which pertains to the needs of disabled persons, support groups and organizations, and other benefits available to persons with disabilities. Co-author emails and communication regarding the monitoring of City owned facilities and programs to insure availability to the handicapped. Researches and coordinates programs to educate the business sector on the needs of the handicapped community. Advise City officials on requirements of the handicapped. Coordinates with Second Harvest for food bank deliveries. Draft policies and plans overall operations in consort with director. Issues written and oral departmental instructions Coordinates and assist director in planning and hosting annual departmental events. Informs employees on new procedures in day-to-day activities through directors' leadership. Trains employees on new rules and regulations set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture and Second Harvest Food Bank. Functions as the department's Technical Assistance Coordinator, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of payroll documents forwarded to the Director's Office for processing, and providing technical assistance and guidance to food bank staff regarding food safety, client intake, and other food bank operational requirements. Learns and follows new procedures implemented by the department. Provides an account on clients and their households. Creates and mails thank you letters to individuals who donate food, and or monetary donations. Monitors a temperature log on the coolers to ensure safety for refrigeration and cooling systems. Prepares end of month report on various items. Tracks employee annual and sick leave. Oversees payroll and time cards before submitting to the Director's office for processing. Notifies department's director concerning need for repairs and maintenance. Prioritizes work. Maintains confidential records and reports. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as client information to ensure compliance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Louisiana Department of Forestry and Agriculture (LDAF). Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as payroll, employee files, and evaluations of employees. Refers to City of Kenner policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, to ensure the department is in compliance with City of Kenner guidelines. Operates a variety of office equipment and machinery such as typewriter, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, computer, printer, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as hammer, stapler, standard office tools, etc.; a variety of supplies such as paper, writing instruments, general office supplies, etc.; and a variety of computer software such as Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Director, clients, subordinates, vendors, and the general public about daily food bank operations.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Attends meetings. Performs various administrative tasks as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, reviewing professional journals, returning telephone calls, attending and conducting meetings, answering the telephone, etc. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Current, permanent Civil Service status with the Department of Citizens Services, a high school diploma or equivalent and satisfactory food bank experience supplemented by three years of general clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, and must possess a current, valid Louisiana driver's license.
