ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The school is an alternative education program in Barre, MA serving approximately 30 high school students. The school provides a hands-on, individualized learning environment designed to give students the experience of a public school education at their own pace. Class sizes are small — up to 8 students per class — and the program is led by a team of Master-level educators with 25-30+ years of experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead literacy assessment efforts across the high school program, tracking and reporting on student progress. Design and implement individualized literacy support strategies aligned with student needs and pacing. Collaborate with classroom teachers across subject areas to integrate literacy goals into instruction. Maintain assessment records and communicate findings to the education leadership team. Support students in an alternative education model focused on hands-on, self-paced learning. 3. Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure /
Certification:
Massachusetts teaching license or licensure in a related field preferred. Candidates in an active licensure program will be considered.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; English degree (K-12) required if not licensed. Master's degree a plus.
Experience:
Background in literacy instruction, reading specialist work, or English/Language Arts preferred. Open to candidates newer to the field who demonstrate strong literacy knowledge. Physical /
Behavioral:
Must be able to complete physical restraint training as part of onboarding. Must be able to remain on your feet in an active school environment.
