Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. The Department of Education recognized RCC as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and as one of the top 100 community colleges in the country for student outcomes through the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program, making it the only community college in Massachusetts with these designations. RCC offers 24 associate degree programs, 6 credit-based certificate programs, 13 non-credit professional certification programs, 30+ lifelong learning and fitness classes, and customized incumbent worker training programs. The college hosts hundreds of civic and community events at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center each year. About the Organization / Department Boston Neighborhood Community Land Trust (BNCLT) works to combat displacement and racial injustice by creating permanently affordable, community-controlled housing in the Boston area, with a specific geographic focus on Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan. BNCLT builds neighborhood stability, housing equity, and community strength among low
•and moderate-income residents most at risk of displacement; and through the collective strength of partners working toward a shared, equitable, and just future. Position Summary Student employees will support departmental operations across Boston Neighborhood Community Land Trust (BNCLT), gaining hands-on experience in community-controlled housing and equitable development work. Assignments may vary across departments ? including Administration, Property Management, Housing Services, Community Organizing, and Communications ? and are designed to build professional competencies aligned with students' academic and career goals. At BNCLT, students will engage in meaningful work that directly supports our mission of building an equitable Boston through community-controlled, affordable housing. Student employees will contribute to day-to-day operations while gaining exposure to nonprofit housing work, community organizing, and neighborhood-based advocacy ? all while developing key skills in administration, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism. Duties and Responsibilities Support data entry, filing, and record maintenance (physical and/or digital) Support Director of Housing and Operations to maintain office and make sure work stations meet staff needs Support with BNCLT event coordination including planning, outreach, set up and clean up. Support with BNCLT communications including website updates, newsletters, flyers, mailings, and EveryAction maintenance. Must demonstrate the ability to work in the United States. Familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Word or Google equivalents. Familiarity with the Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan neighborhoods Additional language proficiency in
Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole Requirements:
Requirements Must be enrolled in an academic internship course for academic credit Must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
Additional Information:
Academic Internship Structure This is an Academic Internship placement. Students receiving academic credit must complete 150 hours during the semester and satisfy the requirements of the applicable RCC internship course/program. Internship hours must be documented separately from any other student employment hours. Concurrent Federal Work-Study A student may hold a separate Federal Work-Study position while completing this Academic Internship. The FWS position must be a different position with its own job description, duties, supervisor/placement record, and timekeeping. FWS work hours may not be applied toward the 150-hour Academic Internship requirement.
