Job Description
Position Summary An integral part of the Mission team based at our Downeast Campus in Cherryfield, the Community Outreach Program Director directly oversees, supports and provides oversight for the Community Engagement, Food Security, and Christmas Programs and coordinates Downeast Campus volunteers, facilities, and vehicle fleet. This position works collaboratively across Mission departments, cultivates meaningful partnerships, enhances volunteer experiences, and assists with strengthening programs that reflect the Mission's commitment to Downeast Maine.

Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Work with Mission leaders, supervisor, and other staff to develop, deliver, and administer programs that include safe, positive, and impactful experiences and increase the community impact of the Mission in line with the Mission, Vision, and Values and strategic priorities. Work with Downeast Director to establish and maintain program plans and budgets. Collaborate and implement activities and programs that support children, families, adults, and/or seniors in our community to engage with one another, and with the Mission. Supervise program staff while fostering a collaborative, mission-centered culture. Design and deliver safe, positive, and impactful experiences. Act as a supportive, productive, and generous partner for other Mission departments and programs. Administer departmental resources including budget and staff in alignment with Mission processes and priorities and in partnership with senior leadership. Coordinate use and maintenance of Downeast Campus facilities and vehicle fleet. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Program Administration Responsibilities Work with Downeast Director and planning staff to maintain and follow annual Program Plans for each Departmental program that aligns with Mission priorities, regulations, and best practices. Consult with Mission leadership regarding program-related risk management initiatives including plans and policies. Supervise Community Outreach Department staff in alignment with Mission staff development, annual review, and goal-setting priorities. Work with supervisor to develop and manage the annual department budget, track expenditures against plan, approve invoices, and code purchases in accordance with Mission finance procedures. Maintain complete program records — registrations, applications, waivers, health and emergency forms, attendance, and incident reports — and ensure secure storage, retention, and confidentiality in accordance with Mission procedures. Collect and report program participation and outcome data, and contribute narrative and data to grant proposals, funder reports, and donor and board communications in partnership with evaluation and development departments. Maintain program calendars in Mission shared systems and coordinate campus facility, equipment, and vehicle scheduling in accordance with Downeast Campus procedure. Manage vendor relationships, purchasing, and equipment and asset inventories. Ensure compliance with Mission policies, insurance requirements, background checks, and required youth-protection and mandated-reporter training for all program staff and volunteers. Volunteer Coordination Work with Mission leadership and other program staff to coordinate Downeast Campus volunteers across programs. Maintain a volunteer coordination plan as part of the larger Mission volunteer effort that includes goals, strategies, activities, and an evaluation plan. Community Engagement Responsibilities Maintain an annual Program Plan in partnership with Downeast Director and planning staff. Coordinate and help deliver family activity days in partnership with EdGE and Outdoor Education and Service staff. Coordinate, participate and represent the Mission at meetings, events, festivals and parades. Coordinate campus events and community initiatives and activities that advance program goals. Manage campus space requests and coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings, trainings, volunteer groups, and community events. Food Security Maintain an annual Program Plan in partnership with Downeast Director and planning staff. Provide leadership and oversight for all Food Pantry operations, ensuring services align with the Maine Seacoast Mission's mission and values. Supervise Food Pantry staff and volunteers by providing coaching, support, and performance feedback. Christmas Program Maintain an annual Program Plan in partnership with Downeast Director and planning staff. Coordinate and oversee the organization's annual Christmas Program from planning through completion. Coordinate the application process for participating families, organizations, individuals. Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise volunteers. Campus Facilities & Fleet Maintain a Downeast Campus maintenance plan in partnership with Downeast Director. Oversee campus facilities, grounds, and vehicle fleet operations to ensure buildings, vehicles, and outdoor spaces are safe, functional, and welcoming. Coordinate and oversee maintenance projects and work with vendor for service contracts. Act as primary contact for emergent issues on and related to Downeast Campus, such as fire and security alerts, including working outside of normal business hours to be on property with techs as needed. Oversee fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, inspections, registrations, and scheduling. Program Support and Participation Responsibilities Participate in activities for other programs and departments assigned. Participate in Mission-wide program planning, professional development, and activities. Take direction, follow program activity plans, contribute positively to group dynamics, lead when asked, and act as a positive role model for participants. Connect participants to other Mission programs and resources as appropriate. Participate in team meetings and initiatives as assigned. Qualifications Core Qualifications Excellent facilitation, organizational, management and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to learn and effectively use other software and technology platforms as needed. Required Education and Experience High school diploma, or equivalent, with some college. Experience in a supervisory, lead, or coordinator-level role. Experience with budget management. Basic organizational or administrative experience. Challenge Course Level 1 certified or willingness to be trained. Valid driver's license. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree, preferably related to non-profit, public administration, education, or community focused. Experience managing staff and budget oversight. Experience managing and working with volunteers. Position Conditions and Requirements Work Environment Ability to work some evenings and some weekends based on programming. Ability to communicate clearly using both verbal commands and visual signals to maintain safety. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Ability to respond in a timely way to emergent situations during workdays and outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to answer work calls regarding emergent situations regardless of time or day of the week. Ability to work in varying indoor environments including but not limited to offices, food storage areas, walk-in coolers, and walk-in freezers. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time based on office or event work. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and mouse for prolonged periods of time. Physical Demands Ability to push, pull, lift, or hold up to 50 pounds. Ability to stock or carry various food items or program objects and equipment. Ability to walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and grip for program and event materials. Ability to be CPR/First Aid Certified. Ability to be Challenge Course Level 1 Certified and perform the duties of a belayer. Travel Requirements Ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van with individuals in the vehicle. Ability to transport fleet vehicles to and from maintenance appointments. Ability to use personal vehicle driving to and from Maine Seacoast Mission sites and off-campus events with materials and/or equipment. Ability to commute to and from campus to tend to emergent situations in a timely manner, regardless of the time of day or day of the week. Compensation This is a full-time, exempt, position based on a 40-hour work week. The rate is a salary of $57,000 to $67,000 per year based on experience with excellent benefits.To Apply Please visit https:
