Purpose Statement Hopkins Public Schools is seeking teacher leaders to serve as Immersion Program Coordinators for the Chinese and Spanish immersion pathways. These roles exist to strengthen Preschool–12 immersion programming through pathway alignment, program coherence, family engagement, and continuous improvement. Immersion Program Coordinators serve as connectors, facilitators, and system leaders who help ensure students experience high-quality, equitable immersion opportunities regardless of school, grade level, or language pathway. Working in partnership with school leaders, teachers, families, and district departments, coordinators help maintain strong immersion pathways while supporting long-term program sustainability and continuous improvement. Build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Think systemically and can connect work across schools and grade levels. Are skilled at facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Are passionate about bilingualism, biliteracy, multicultural competence, and global learning. Can balance day-to-day problem solving with long-term program planning. Are committed to ensuring equitable opportunities across immersion pathways. Have experience building partnerships with families, community organizations, cultural institutions, or international programs. Role Focus & Deliverables Pathway Alignment & Program Coherence Strengthen Preschool–12 pathway alignment within the immersion program. Support smooth transitions between preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school experiences. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to strengthen horizontal alignment across sites. Support consistency in program expectations, student experiences, and opportunities. Collaborate with the Immersion Program Coordinator for the other language pathway to ensure equitable access to opportunities, coherent program expectations, and high-quality immersion experiences across programs. Family & Community Engagement Serve as a liaison between immersion stakeholders and district leadership. Support family engagement and communication related to immersion programming. Partner with Marketing and Communications on recruitment and retention efforts. Help build welcoming experiences for current and prospective immersion families. Program Improvement & Strategic Planning Support immersion program review and continuous improvement efforts. Review program participation, enrollment, and outcome data. Identify opportunities to strengthen student experiences and program effectiveness. Inform future planning and decision-making related to immersion programming. Cultural and Community Partnerships Develop and sustain partnerships that strengthen authentic language and cultural learning experiences. Coordinate relationships with cultural organizations, community groups, educational institutions, cultural ambassadors, and international partners. Identify opportunities for students to engage with language and culture beyond the classroom. Support events, experiences, and programming that promote cultural competence, global awareness, and community engagement. Collaborate with families, community partners, and district departments to expand access to cultural learning opportunities. Strong and sustainable partnerships that enrich language learning and cultural experiences for students and families. Qualifications Required Qualifications Minnesota teaching license. Experience working in an immersion educational setting. Demonstrated understanding of immersion education and language acquisition. Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to collaborate across schools, departments, and stakeholder groups. Ability to travel between district sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications Fluency in the language of the immersion pathway being supported. Experience leading teams, initiatives, or program improvement efforts. Experience with family engagement, recruitment, or community partnerships. Knowledge of immersion program design, assessment, and pathway development. Additional Considerations For the
Chinese Immersion Coordinator:
Knowledge of Chinese immersion programming and the Preschool–12 Chinese immersion pathway. Ability to build relationships with organizations and partners that support Chinese language and cultural learning. For the
Spanish Immersion Coordinator:
Knowledge of Spanish immersion programming and the Preschool–12 Spanish immersion pathway. Ability to build relationships with organizations and partners that support Spanish language and cultural learning. Experience collaborating with multilingual learner programs and culturally responsive family engagement efforts is preferred. Additional Information The district anticipates filling one Chinese Immersion Coordinator assignment and one Spanish Immersion Coordinator assignment. Interested applicants may apply for either pathway or indicate interest in both positions.
Hours & Compensation:
.2 FTE - 185 Days (Approximately 8 hours per week)
