Workers Compensation Program Specialist 101 Truman Medical Center Job Location UH Lakewood Medical Center, University Health Truman Medical Center Kansas City, Missouri Department Occupational Health UHTMC Position Type Full time Work Schedule 7:30AM - 4:00PM Hours Per Week 40 Job Description The Workers' Compensation Program Specialist supports the administration and continuous improvement of the organization's workers' compensation programs. Working under the direction of the Workers' Compensation Program Manager, this role is responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to workplace injuries, managing required reporting, and supporting prevention initiatives across multiple campuses. This position plays a key role in advocating for injured employees, coordinating care and return-to-work efforts, and collaborating with Occupational Health, Human Resources, Payroll, and department leadership. Key Responsibilities Partner with the Workers' Compensation Program Manager to support program strategies, goals, and daily operations Serve as a point of contact for injured employees, providing guidance and support throughout the workers' compensation process Collect and track medical visit information, including work status updates and follow-up care needs Coordinate appointments and assist with care-related logistics for injured employees Maintain accurate data systems to track injuries, claims, and program outcomes Collaborate with brokers and internal stakeholders to review and analyze workers' compensation data Act as liaison between employees, management, and claims adjusters to facilitate return-to-work programs (transitional or full duty) Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required workers' compensation and OSHA documentation, logs, and postings Prepare and deliver reports, dashboards, and analysis for leadership and key committees Support development of annual program work plans and year-end outcome reports Participate in training and education efforts for leadership and staff on program goals and processes Promote a culture of safety, quality improvement, and inclusion in all activities Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational policies and standards
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Experience supporting employee-related programs such as workers' compensation Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated analytical ability, including report development and data interpretation Strong organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data management tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of medical terminology 1-3 years of experience in workers' compensation processes, reporting, or related employee programs Why Join Us?
