Do you have at least 2 years of direct care experience and want to take the next step in your career? This could be a great fit for you. As a Resource Advocate, you'll be an essential part of our Tailored Care Management team, helping individuals with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other I/DD live healthier, more independent, and fulfilling lives. This position primarily supports individuals living in Durham and Orange counties. What You'll Do
  • Build meaningful, supportive relationships with individuals and families
  • Work closely with Care Managers to support whole-person care
  • Help individuals access community resources, services, and supports
  • Coordinate appointments and referrals
  • Provide education, information, and advocacy to help people reach their goals
  • Navigate service systems and document activities using computer-based tools To be successful in this role, you must be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to helping others.
You should be able to navigate the service systems effectively and work collaboratively with individuals to ensure they receive the support they need. If you're ready to use your experience to empower others and grow your career in the I/DD field, we'd love to hear from you.
Minimum Requirements:
18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED Two years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities OR Be a person with lived experience of I/DD OR Be a parent or guardian of an individual with an I/DD with at least two years of direct experience providing care for and navigating the system on behalf of that individual The Arc is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
