Program Director, Multilingual Learner After-School Programs (27 hours/week) The Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence (MFEE) provides resources and opportunities that bring innovative ideas and critical support to students, educators, and schools throughout Montclair Public Schools (MPS). As part of its work, MFEE operates comprehensive after-school programs for Spanish-speaking Multilingual Learner (MLL) students in Montclair Public Schools.

MFEE currently operates two programs:

one serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade on Mondays and Wednesdays, and another serving students in sixth through twelfth grade on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In these free programs, MLL students participate in small-group instruction led by certified teachers, engage in enrichment activities, and build connections with peers. Students are also supported by trained volunteer adult and teen tutors. The Program Director, Multilingual Learner After-School Programs , provides educational leadership for MFEE's after-school programs serving MLL students. Building on the programs' strong foundation, the Program Director connects the expertise, relationships, and resources of teachers, tutors, families, volunteers, and school partners to strengthen student outcomes and support continued program improvement. This is a new position in a well-established program area. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and supervises the After-School Program Coordinator. Working in close partnership with the Coordinator, the Program Director strengthens collaboration among program staff and partners and helps ensure a culturally responsive, relationship-based experience for students and families.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Program Leadership Work closely with the Executive Director to implement the program vision, contribute to annual goals, and identify opportunities to strengthen the program's impact and support its continued evolution. Help establish and maintain high standards for a culturally responsive and relationship-based program for MLL students in grades kindergarten through high school. Establish and support a culture of engagement, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. Meet regularly with after-school teachers to discuss student progress, coordinate program activities, and ensure a cohesive student experience. Use observations, student feedback, and teacher collaboration to identify opportunities to strengthen student engagement and continuously improve program activities. Supervise the Program Coordinator and be accountable for program operations. Student and family support Partner with the Program Coordinator to form a warm, unified support system for caregivers. While the Coordinator handles daily parent updates and scheduling logistics, serve as the senior liaison bridging the gap between home, the daytime classroom, and our program. Communicate with Montclair Public Schools teachers and families regarding students who may benefit from additional support. Attend school meetings when appropriate. Collaborate with school staff to ensure after-school learning activities complement students' classroom experiences and support district learning goals. Oversee the gathering of student data, report cards, and assessments, and use the data to inform individual support and overall program design. Alongside the Executive Director, collaborate with district administrators on educational workshops for caregivers. Tutor Recruitment & Development Liaise with colleges and universities to engage volunteer tutors through established programs and pipelines. Train tutors on classroom management and instructional strategies. Coach tutors on how to deliver highly engaging, relationship-first academic support. Native or bilingual Spanish verbal proficiency and working written proficiency Excellent communication skills Demonstrated experience in a leadership role Demonstrated understanding of the educational and social-emotional needs of multilingual learners and/or immigrant communities Experience teaching or other youth-facing responsibilities Strong ability to build relationships, support volunteers and staff, and foster a collaborative team environment Highly organized and resourceful; comfortable managing unexpected situations Familiarity with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) and digital communication tools Satisfactory completion of a background check upon offer

27 hours/week. The regular on-site schedule is Monday through Thursday from 12 PM-6 PM. This schedule includes dedicated time for program preparation, planning, meetings, communication with staff and partners, and direct support of after-school programming. Additional hours within the 27-hour schedule are flexible and may be used for remote work, additional meetings, or program improvement activities as needed. This is a year-round position.

Compensation:

$37,000-40,000 / year, depending on experience. Three weeks of PTO.
