Program Coordinator Job Purpose:

Serves as the frontline telephone and personal greeting to the public, volunteers and clients; explains ReadWests services to everyone who needs information; recruits volunteers to train as tutors; conducts volunteer orientation and tutor trainings; matches volunteers with students in a timely manner; supports volunteer/student match by frequent contact with volunteer; creates and maintains volunteer and student paper and electronic files; conducts student intakes and evaluations; works as a team with ReadWest staff and volunteers to maintain a friendly, supportive environment.

Program Coordinator Job Duties:

Welcomes visitors, volunteers, and clients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering inquiries; refers to other literacy programs and community resources as needed. Conducts English Language Learner, Adults Building Literacy and HSE student intakes, orientations, and assessments. Creates paper and electronic records, updating with status changes and information. Recruit volunteers to satisfy program needs. Minimum of 60 new volunteer tutors per fiscal year. Assists with setting up the volunteer tutor trainings and prepares materials. Matches volunteers with students in a timely manner, re-matching as necessary. Minimum of 80 new pairs per fiscal year. Facilitates online and in-person group classes and supports group tutors. Works with schools and business to provide ESL classes for parents and employees. Maintains and supports volunteers by frequent personal contact, information and trouble shooting. Assigns Cell-Ed licenses and trains students on how to use. (Will train) Assists in maintaining RW library. Maintains LACES Database. (Will train) Certified Administrator of TABE and CASAS. (Will train) Assists Assessment Coordinator with standardized testing. Must be bi-lingual (English-Spanish) Appreciates and maintains volunteers as the heart of our program. Maintains confidentiality of clients, volunteers, and staff. Assists Executive Director in gathering information for reports. Works as a team with the ReadWest staff to maintain a friendly, supportive environment.
