Job Description

Day Program Staff - SDP 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars Job Overview Head Injury Association (HIA) is seeking a motivated full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Cultural Arts Center (CAC) in Hauppauge. This position is ideal for individuals interested in working in a creative and engaging Structured Day Program setting. The DSP will work under the supervision of the Program Manager of the Cultural Arts Center and the Senior Program Manager of SDP Services , providing support to individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury or who are at risk of nursing home placement. The Cultural Arts Center is a small, community-based, social-model Structured Day Program funded through the TBI and NHTD Medicaid Waiver Programs . Participants in the program are largely independent and actively engage in a wide range of creative, therapeutic, and social activities. The Cultural Arts Center offers a welcoming and supportive environment and is a program that staff enjoy attending each day. The program provides opportunities for art therapy, music therapy, dance therapy, socialization, trivia, card games, crafts, horticulture, and other engaging activities. Essential Job Responsibilities Complete daily progress notes documenting individual participation and/or ensure assigned staff complete required documentation Document daily attendance Serve as a positive role model for individuals supported Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals based on their individualized needs Assist with planning and implementing creative programs, activities, and special events Provide appropriate supervision throughout the program day Build and maintain positive working relationships with individuals, families, aides, transportation providers, and external service providers Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and time-management skills Complete all required trainings, including Personal Care Aide (PCA) certification Adhere to all HIA policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Support individuals in working toward and achieving personal goals Maintain punctual attendance to ensure appropriate program coverage Why Work for HIA?
