Job Description

DocCare is an established primary care and multi-specialty medical practice with locations in Queens and Hauppauge, NY. We provide compassionate, high-quality healthcare to our patients. We are seeking a Medical Assistant for our Hauppauge location who is responsible for assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients, as well as performing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations. You will play a key role in enhancing patient satisfaction, ensuring compliance with procedures, and fostering a collaborative team environment. This position will also be cross-trained as a Medical Receptionist to provide front desk support, including patient scheduling, check-in/check-out, and general administrative assistance as needed. This position will rotate throughout our locations, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Provide excellent customer service when working with patients that represent PCMH standards. Organize patient flow and advise patients of delays or wait times. Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories, measuring vital signs, and recording information. Assist healthcare providers during examinations and medical procedures. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic lab tests. Perform venipuncture on patients as directed by the physician following medical group practice protocols related to safety and injection control. Perform test within the scope of their practice (i.e. EKG, eye test, etc). Sterilize medical instruments and ensure examination rooms are clean and well-stocked.
Administrative Duties:
Provide front desk support, including patient scheduling, check-in/check-out, and general administrative assistance as needed. Maintain accurate patient medical records and data. Document chief complaint in the electronic health records (EHR) and maintain privacy under HIPAA regulations. Assist with stocking medical supplies daily.

Other related duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred. 2-4 years' work experience in a medical office required.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have prior experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience with Phlebotomy necessary. Must have strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Must have strong organizational and multitasking skills, with high level attention to detail in all administrative aspects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is needed. Prior experience working with an EHR system needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information necessary. Preferred Qualifications Experience with DOT protocol is strongly preferred. Experience working in a busy physician's office preferred.
